Shiur given after the morning prayers, on Shabbat Mishpatim (February 22, 2025)

Now, it’s Shabbat Mevarchim [the shabbat before Rosh Chodesh].

The molad is on Thursday in the night, 6:41, and this is the moment that Amalek is cut down.

Today, ‘Amalek’ is the nazis and Hamas.

From the moment of the molad, the light of Purim begins.

Purim is the greatest revelation of the whole year; more than Shavuot, and more than Rosh Hashana.

The secret of ‘Abba’[1] is revealed, Mordechai and Esther are revealed.

And now, [King] Shaul is being rectified.

Each person, they have a spark of Shaul, and Shaul didn’t wait for another two minutes, for Shmuel [to come].[2]

Two minutes before 12, [Shaul] said Shmuel already is not coming back, and Shaul was left by himself.

But the Tzaddik always returns.

It’s written in the Etz Chayim that Shaul was a spark of Moshe – “Shaul m’rehovot ha’nahar”[3] – this is the initial letters of ‘MoSHeH’.

And now, on Shabbat Mevorchim, Amalek is being cut down.

The yetzer hara is being cut down.

Now is the time / opportunity.

[For] whoever wants to finish off the yetzer hara, to take upon themselves the decision that he is finishing off the yetzer hara.

Shmuel arrived and Shaul went forward to meet him. Shmuel said, “What have you done?!” Shaul said, “Because I saw that the people were leaving me and you hadn’t arrived by the arranged day, and that the Phillistines were gathering at Michmas.”
