The most important thing is to come to Israel – comments from the Rav
Excerpt of Shiur after ma’ariv, Iyar 2, 5785, (May 1st, 2025 – Yom Ha’Atzmaut)
Be’eri are requesting for [religious girls] seminaries to be set up.
Now, they understood that their whole mistake was to disconnect from Judaism, that by them, there is no yiddishkeit.
[In their eyes] it’s just some story from 3,000 years ago. And today, we are already progressive! A new generation! We already from the ‘advanced’, we’re already….

Nitzan Horowitz said that they should bring chametz into the hospitals.
So they said to him, how can you bring chametz in?! So he said, this is a story from 3,000 years ago. What do I have to do, with stories?!
He didn’t know that this is happening every day, every moment, that we are leaving Egypt every moment, with all the non-Jews around us.
There are 2.5 billion muslims here, seven billion non-Jews – and all of them want to destroy us.
That we are still here, is nisei nissim, (miracle of miracles), every second, that they are not destroying us.

400 rockets, that’s what they launched [against Israel] on erev Pesach, last year.
And on erev Rosh Hashana, they launched another 400 rockets.
No rocket damaged [anything in Israel], they just fell in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Not a rocket damaged anything here, from the 400. This is something that just can’t be, according to any of the laws of nature.
So we see, that there is some thing different, from shemayim.
Here, it’s the world of yetzirah, Jerusalem is already the world of briah, and the Beit HaMikdash is the world of atzilut.
==
It’s forbidden to leave Jerusalem.
Whoever leaves Jerusalem, he is liable to the […] penalty.
Jerusalem is the world of briah, Eretz Yisrael is yetzirah. Who wrote this, is R Yisrael Meyer Morgenstern. In תרסד he wrote:
Today, there are no ships with sails, there are steam ships, and there is permission to ascend to the land [of Israel]. There are no more pretexts, why not to ascend to the Aretz.
Today, whoever ascends to the land, they’ll receive an apartment, they’ll get a building, he’ll get a whole year, he’ll live in an apartment for free. He can get one in Har Homa, or even in Shuafat also there, they giving away apartments for free.
He’ll get the rent paid for a whole year.
==
Today, there is no excuse.
So, there is an issur de’orayta to live in chul – because this is weighed against all of the other mitzvoth. This remains – it’s forbidden to nullify any mitzvah, but this one weighs [against all the mitzvoth], because the most important thing, is to come to Eretz Yisrael.

Translated from Shivivei Or 407

This is falling among deaf ears in America as the American Poskim obviously rule that Yishuv Eretz Yisrael is not a mitzvah Dioriasa. There is no yearning, the Rabbis don’t teach to yearn for Eretz Yisrael. They are all so happy in their communities.
No word for the good is ever wasted, in my view.
I have family in both the US and UK, and none of them are ‘happy’ there, for a whole bunch of reasons. Making aliyah is a very long process for many people. It often takes years and years and years to move from ‘thought’ to ‘action’.
I know it did for me and my husband – we were talking about it for 4 years, before we actually did it. And we did it only with God’s help, because I also couldn’t really see ‘how’ we could move here, at that point.
Under the surface, a lot is moving.
There are many good Jews all over the world, who do want to get here, but just can’t at the moment. BH, the path to Eretz Yisrael is being opened up more…. the sweet way.
It was that way for many years for me. I’d had an extremely strong desire to come home, even with all the dysfunction. My husband resisted for years, until about 2005 (we visited for the first time in August and were here for the Great Gerush from Gush Katif (and northern Shomron)…which, I wasn’t surprised, led to “OCTOBER SEVENTH.” Or, as a mutual friend calls it, “the Great Horror from Gaza.”).
Once he was on board, it took 2 years until we got here.
There is no isur to live in chutz and no obligation to live in israel. for most people moving here is a bad move, it is irresponsible to push that on people. The Torah is complex. Don’t simplify it with your agenda.
I think that’s called ‘projection’…. I’m just translating what the Rav says. I’m happy to put the original Hebrew up, and you can also translate it, with your ‘agenda’, and see if it comes out different….
BTW – I know many people, good Jews, who are with the Rav, with Rebbe Nachman, and in chul. The ‘being in chul’ is not so much the problem.
The WANTING to be in chul, and not even considering that NOT WANTING to be in Eretz Israel might be against ratzon Hashem – THAT’s the problem.
