The end of this ‘accursed war’ – more comments from the Rav
Someone in the Shuvu Banim community was killed in a car accident during Chol HaMoed.
Her name was Leah Zinger, 36, who died coming back from visiting the Pele Yoetz’s grave in Bulgaria. Her father operates one of the biggest ‘chesed’ operations to help poor families running out of Meah Shearim.
In his very moving chesped, given just ahead of the Shvi’i shel Pesach when she was buried, the Rav said that Leah’s death finally cancelled the decree of this horrible war.

Excerpt of a shiur given last week at the chesped for Leah Zinger, who was killed in a car accident on April 5, 2026 – the 4th day of the Omer, netzach she be chesed, 5786.
Her whole life, from the day she was born, everything that she recieved from her father, her mother, her grandfather, from all her family – she was born holy, she was born an angel of Hashem.
She was an angel of Hashem, from the day she was born. She was only chesed (kindness). Her husband wasn’t at home for weeks, we were on the way to Uman, it took weeks to travel. She was alone, except for Hashem. She just used to see Hashem.
==
It’s written in Benayahu ben Yehoida, on Shmuel II:23, ish merah, that he merited to a vision, and not to an enigma.
She just saw Hashem all day long.
She used to do hitbodedut all the time. Not a day went past that she didn’t do an hour of hitbodedut. All the time, she just saw Hashem in front of her face, before her eyes, just alone with Hashem.
Everything she did, it was only for Hashem.
She didn’t have any gratification from anything, she had no pleasure from this world. She had no part, in this world. The whole time that she was alive, she wasn’t enjoying [the world], as Rabbi Yehuda HaNassi says. He lifted up his 10 fingers, and said, I didn’t take pleasure from this world, not even by the amount of a little finger!…
==
With her passing, this accursed war will be finished.
There won’t be any more of this war, ever again. It is never coming back again. All of this is in her merit, the moment that she went up to Shemayim, how she ascended.
Chaim [her husband, R Chaim Bezalel Zinger] told her we bought tickets for Uman, on Shabbat, we’ll already be in Uman. She straight away went up to the Heichal (palace) of Rabbenu. She ascended to the kisay hakavod.
==
Hakadosh Baruch Hu called the greatest tzaddik of the generation, she was the greatest tzaddeket of the generation.
“I will be sanctified by those closest to Me.”
Hashem takes only the biggest tzaddik. We didn’t merit, we didn’t merit to ascend to Heaven, we are still staying down here, in this world. We still staying alive here, to rectify things here.
==
She was already complete, in all aspects, with all the chessidim (kindnesses).
She was totally chesed. Each person needs to learn from her middot.
Hashem took her above, to the kisay hakavod, together with her, like Miriam HaNavia.
He took her, in order to end this accursed war.
She died exactly on netzach she be chesed [of the counting of the Omer].
==
Now, it’s malchut seh be chesed, because all of her was just chesed.
Totally chesed. She had nothing for herself. Chaim [her husband] can bear witness about her. Only a husband can testify about his wife, and only a wife, about her husband, [because] they live together 24 hours a day. Only they really know each other.
And Chaim knows that she was totally chesed. He lived with her 24 hours a day, throughout this short life. But God needed her above. Hashem needed her.
“I will be sanctified by those closest to Me.”
The greatest tzaddik, as with Nadav and Avihu.
==
The whole House of Israel wept over their burning – the whole House of Israel!
Seder night, people did it in the bomb shelters. People ran five times to their mamad [security rooms], throughout the whole of Seder night.
And so, Hashem took her above, to stop this insanity, that everybody endured another siren every five minutes. People were already losing their minds.
The awful decree had to be nullified, and only she could nullify this decree, only her.
No other tzaddik could have cancelled this decree, only her, because she was totally chesed.
==
Nothing she did was for herself.
She didn’t even breathe for herself, she only breathed for her children, for the sick people.
The whole way I got out of prison, was in her merit. And I underwent 20 radiation treatments, because they discovered a fast-growing growth. We journeyed for 20 days, 6.30am we left, and 8.30am we came back [from the hospital]. She arranged everything, she organised everything, so that the moment we got there, within a minute we were being treated, then we came home.
==
All the doctors and professors deferred to her.
Every word that she said, she was holy of holies. The whole hospital was under her sway, she was the true manager of the hospital, and every word she said was holy of holies. She never uttered a pointless word in her life. Every word was just chesed, and helping other people, and she gave everything, and didn’t keep anything for herself. She left no thing for herself, like Rabbi Yehuda HaNassi, who lifted up his ten fingers and said I didn’t enjoy anything of this world, not even by as much as a small finger’s worth!
This should be said about her.
All the praises that are said about the Tannaim and the Amorim, about Moshe Rabbenu, about Mordechai HaTzaddik – everything should be said about her.
==
She was the Queen Esther of the generation.
Just as Queen Esther cancelled the terrible decree, that is what she merited to do. Hashem chose her, only her. Hashem didn’t chose us, we didn’t have the merit.
He only chose her, to bring her to the kisay hakavod, and to cancel the awful decree, that was upon the whole of Am Yisrael, where it was unknown when it would ever end.
In the merit of her ascending to Heaven, there will be an end to all the suffering of Am Yisrael.
==
Each person should take her middot, to not speak lashon hara about anyone.
Because our part in this – each person has a share in this awful disaster – is the lashon hara that is spoken day and night, because a person thinks that lashon hara is the language of ‘truth’.
The whole thing with lashon hara, is that it’s the only thing that we don’t make teshuva about, because when a person speaks lashon hara, he is sure that he is ‘uprooting the evil from your midst’.
He is certain that he is speaking words of truth, so he never makes teshuva, and this is our share in this terrible disaster.
Each person needs to check themselves really, really well. What is my share, in this awful decree, that they took her above, in order to sweeten the harsh judgements that are upon Am Yisrael?
In her merit, very soon the Third Beit HaMikdash will be rebuilt, and Moshiach ben David will come, speedily in our days, Amen.

UPDATE:
Leah Zinger was apparently the volunteer coordinator for the Children’s ward at Hadassah hospital, and arranged a lot of things for sick children and their families.
I don’t have Facebook, but apparently Bhol Charedi covered her passing on their Facebook page, and it was inundated with hundreds of comments from real people that she helped, during her time at Hadassah.
(If anyone can find a link to that, let me know in the comments, and I’ll post it up.)
I also got sent an article that was written about her, in Hebrew, a few years ago, that you can download HERE.
She really does sound like a very special person, who really was ‘totally chesed’.

This was a v powerful chesped, and it really hit me.
First, and only with God’s help, I want to apologise for all the lashon hara I’ve written here in the name of ‘truth’, and I am hoping to refrain from doing more of that in the future, again, only with God’s help, because it’s a very hard test to overcome. (At least, for me.)
Second, there was some supernatural ‘sweetening’ going on the last week of the war.
Shvi’i shel Pesach, there was the loudest explosion I’d heard to date, in the middle of the night, it literally jolted us all out of our beds.
I thought they’d bombed Al Aksa or something, or something equally ‘bad’ and guaranteed to inflame the situation even more. We couldn’t check, as it was chag. When we looked at the news the following day – not a dickie bird, about what had actually happened.
Just, we went from ‘never ending war’ to ‘peace in the Middle East’ in the blink of an eye.
I am SURE, 100%, that something miraculous happened then, to stop this war in its tracks.
==
BH, the Rav said it would be ended by Pesach, and yet again, the Rav is the only one who consistently tells us stuff that actually plays out.
Time and time again.
BH, let’s pray that when the Rav said this war is now finished, never to return, it’s also 100% what is going to happen.
We are all so very sick and tired of ‘war’ being touted as the answer to every problem.
Bottom line, it’s solved nothing.
It’s an even bigger con, an even bigger waste of money, than Artemis II.
And that’s really saying something.

this young lady was doubtless a tsadekes but it seems a shame if she took no pleasure from anything! as a baal tayvuh in whom only in late 70 s has that negative midah declined i realize tayveh is harmful!my only positive is i try hard not to speak loshon hara from an early age. also,israel and the jewish people are the worlds no 1 hate object (an understatement) if the war ends today even people sympathetic to us(not too many of them! ) see iran as a winner in a very real sense and we are in a bad position in many respects
I think there is a big gap between perception and reality, with all this war stuff. If the war ends today, BH, it HAS already ended, by today, then the main winners are…. you and me. And the IDF soldiers who will retain their limbs, faculties and lives, and all the other civilians on all sides who are being used in this evil political game to just keep stirring up conflicts to ensure the rich 1% stay that way, and the rest of us are too tired and emasculated to hope for anything different.
The perception may be that ‘Iran won’ if there is peace now, and even if that is the perception – what difference does it really make to you and me? Peace is a good thing, as the last few weeks have shown just about everyone, at least, in our patch of the world.
