The Burgher and the Pauper – Part 4 and 5
Hands up, who is liking these?
I know, I know, some readers would prefer I keep ‘predicting’ stuff pointlessly, or explaining over and over and over again how ‘doomed’ we all are, or babbling on about ‘Napisiti’ and Santa Claus, and little fairy folk who live in the glen…
But what can I do?
I have been bitten by the Rebbe Nachman Tales’ bug, and so, I am spending my time bringing more of the Burgher and Pauper to life.
As I was working on these sections, I suddenly got a brainwave who Rabbenu may have been taking as his inspiration for the Pauper=> Emperor. See if you can figure out, who I based him on, in Part 5.

I’ve never read this story before. It’s interesting that poor people can sometimes rise up to greatness and wealth. It seems that the next part of the story would reveal, in one way or another, whether or not the pauper and his wife would remember, or forget, where they came from — and its consequences.

In the old days, (i.e. < 10 years ago) for sure people, kids, would just read these stories for themselves. I started doing this cartoon when I realised in our days, even adults no longer have the attention span to read a story like this. We are in a very, very low space at the moment...
Very nice. I’m a bit surprised to see you using these tools, though I guess it’s where the world’s going. I pray quite a bit that AI (very broad term) will help and not hurt us, physically and spiritually…I don’t think the harms are inevitable, at least not the bigger ones that haven’t happened yet, but I think the topic is pretty urgent and needs a lot of prayers.
The truth is, that I’m really only using one tool that just has all this stuff in one place. I learnt a whole bunch about AI generation 6 months ago, but it’s still not so easy. But when this tool popped up, it happened to be after a Shabbos conversation with someone about the Burgher and the Pauper, when they said it’s a shame they aren’t making this into cartoons.
