Romus and Romulus, Hormuz and Hormiz – more comments from the Rav

Lots and lots of hints about what is really going on here.

Enjoy!

Excerpt of a shiur given over during melaveh malka Parshat Tazria-Metzora 5786. (April 18, 2026)

The Rebbe [Rebbe Nachman of Breslov] was also one of the hatufim (kidnapped).

He was on an arab warship, they wanted to sell him already, to some sheikh in Saudi Arabia. The Rebbe said I would have no idea when [the chagim would be]. According to his spiritual intentions, he would know when it would be Yom Kippur, without a luach (yearly calendar) without anything.

He would already know what to intend [spiritually – i.e. his kavanot would guide him as to what day, or chag, it was, without an external calendar].

All of this is written in Shivchey HaRan, about his journeys.

The captain [of the Turkish warship that Rabbenu had mistakenly boarded in Acco, to escape from the approaching armies of Napoleon III] said:

I am the son after son of the Great One of Philistine [i.e. Goliath]. I am the son after son, and I am going to take revenge for my grandfather! I will take Divine revenge, I will take the required revenge!…I wanted to sell him [i.e. Rabbenu] to one of the sheikhs in Saudi, but suddenly, my mind went blank.

==

The wind blew him away [i.e. blew the captain’s warship in a different direction] to Rhodes.

There was a sha’ar (lit. gate, but in this context figuratively means an archway). I saw how surfers were surfing via that archway – the waves had made a huge archway, and the surfers did a competition to see who could get through it, this ‘gate’, without being tipped over, together with their boats.

And they wanted to activate the cannons, to blow up the ‘gate’. And they couldn’t. It was such a big storm – [the waves] went up to the heavens and then plunged to the depths.

It could be, that it was Hormuz who did this.[1]

Because Amgosha told him that whoever created the world was ‘Hormuz and Hormiz’, so how did this come to be?

If there were two [proposed creators of the world], then it couldn’t work out. Hormuz would not allow Hormiz to pass through, and vice-versa.

==

Hashem created the world with Romus and Romulus [the twin brothers who Roman mythology state founded Rome].

So that if Romus would want to conquer the world, so Romulus would go against him.

And so, there is America, and that’s it, so things will be balanced. Because the Russians want to conquer the whole world.

==

So, the midrash says, in Toldot, that because of this, Hashem created Romus and Romulus.

Their mother left them in a field, it looks like perhaps she gave birth to them illegally, and then left them in a forest.

And then, [a she-wolf] came and suckled them, and this is the picture you see even still today, of Rome. The picture in Rome, shows how a wolf suckled two children.

(Let’s hope that the she-wolf did this with permission. Afterwards, she wanted a salary for this, there was an argument. Until today, there is still a dispute. She wanted $100 for every drop of milk. I will go and collect this amount at the Kotel…)

And so, they closed the Kotel – because they knew that people are making billions, there.

So, they took advantage of the war to close the Kotel, [despite the fact] that the best ‘protected space’ is the Kotel. There is a roof there of 5-10 metres.[2]

The people who revealed this were the people from Meah Shearim. Robinson’s Arch, and Wilson’s Arch. The people of Meah Shearim, they uncovered this, during the time of the Turks.

They told the English to dig, so ‘Robinson’s’ – this is in the name of the person who dug, ‘Wilson’ is called after the person who found it. And the people who revealed this, was the people of Meah Shearim. They directed the English, how to dig there.

All of this is written in the book about Meah Shearim.[3]

Even an 80 ton explosion can’t blow it up [i.e. the Kotel].[4]

[But they say] No, it’s impossible! Only 50 [people at a time are allowed to stand by the Kotel].

And you have to stand in a line for six hours, for eight hours. In the end, after Shvi’i shel Pesach, so we finished at 12:15 am.

Shuvu Banim – you can pass through.

All the people who were here [i.e. davening by the Rav] went – boys, girls, small babies, titchies. They said we are Shuvu Banim.

  • Yalla! Shuvu Banim, you can go through!

People were waiting there six hours, eight hours, ten hours.

FOOTNOTES:

[1] See Tractate Sanhedrin 39a. If someone wants to look up the passage about ‘Hormuz and Hormiz’, that would be great.

[2] Possibly, the Rav is referring to the inner part of the Western Wall, which can be reached via the Men’s Section from the Kotel Plaza.

[3] Meah Shearim was actually built by a German missionary (who may have had Jewish roots) by the name of Conrad Shick. Shick was an architect, cartographer and archaeologist, as well as being a missionary. He mapped out much of the Old City, and his diagrams of the space under Har Habayit are still being used by academics today, who have no access to the site itself.

[4] The last explosion heard in Jerusalem happened in the middle of the night of shvi’i shel Pesach, and was heard all over Jerusalem – but apparently, nothing was hit. My personal speculation is that ‘someone’ did try to blow up the Temple Mount area, to really get the war going in earnest. But, God stopped that ‘80 ton bomb’ in its tracks, and somehow blew it up before it could hit its target. That’s my speculation, but it fits with what the Rav is hinting at, it fits with what I felt happened that night – and it also explains why the very next day, we suprisingly got instant ‘peace in the middle east’.

Here‘s a snippet about Meah Shearim:

Conrad Schick made a plan for the original neighbourhood called Mea Shearim. The first plans was to build a smaller complex for arriving jews…

Schick’s colleague from Chrishona, Basel, Johannes Frutiger, started a local bank i Jerusalem and financed the project. Through his bank he invested in a number of projects that changed the situation, for example the railway from Jaffa to Jerusalem.

Chrischona, in Basel, was a Swiss Evangelical missionary institute, that was training its missionaries also in handicrafts and agriculture, before shipping them out to ‘Palestine’, as it was then called.

There is a huge story to be told here…

    Yosef from the Galil says:

    This morning (yud-bet Iyar) in his home at a brit milah, the Rav said that just like “Roma” was destroyed in a day, and Edom will be destroyed in a day. The context was the current war situation.
    Afterward, people were discussing why he used the odd term “Roma”. I don’t have an answer to that.
