Rabbenu is doing the whole war

Shavua Tov!

Some more translated excerpts from a shiur given over on motzae shabbat, Parshat Chukat (July 13th 2024).

(Shivivei Or 368)

==

In the year 5568 after Succot, [Rebbe Nachman] travelled to Lemberg – today, it’s called Lvov.

How was he called? R’ Zanwill of Lemberg? He built the Zion [of Rebbe Nachman in Uman].

R’ Zanwill, he was the son-in-law of Chaim Binyamin, he was a chabadnik. He travelled to Uman every Rosh Chodesh, to the Zion.

One day, [after Shoah] he didn’t find the Zion, they’d already destroyed it, they broke apart the tombstone. So he wept all night long, so the Rebbe appeared to him in a dream – he told us the story in the Breslov yeshiva.

[The Rebbe] said to him [to R Zanwill]: Go and dig, and you will find.

He dug, and he found the foundations of all the four walls [surrounding the tomb], so he found their foundations. According to that, he knew [where the grave was]…. He arranged for a new tombstone.

And then immediately, they sold it to the non-Jewish lady there. I even met her.

And she didn’t let anyone enter, only Rabbi Michel Dorfman. Until one day, her daughter went completely insane. And then she said to Rabbi Michel ‘go and pray on the Zion!’

Immediately, she regained her health.

From then on, she gave permission for people to enter, from then on, her child was healthy.

And after that, they bought the house from her.[1]

==

[This is video from 1989 when the Breslovers were finally let back in to Uman, en masse. You can see the house in the background, with the Jews praying in the garden, by Rabbenu’s tomb.]

So now we are talking about that the Rebbe said: We will meet each other, meet each other, meet each other.

Now they killed Mohammed Deif.

He was my chevruta (study partner) in Kfar Chassidim, on the mountain…. He dafka had a big beard, he had payot down to his waist, a beard until the floor…. [And he was killed together] with another 100 chassidim – ‘Chassidei Kaplan’.

Each person should go now to Kaplan. There are 100,000 demonstrators there, exhibitors, exhibitions – maybe, they’ll resuscitate him, we’ll see.

==

The Rebbe said, so we need to know that Rabbenu is doing the whole war!

That now, they killed Mohammed Deif, they killed this… Because the two Ramatkals (Chiefs of Staff) said Give everything to the Arabs!

[Before the atrocity on Simchat Torah they] emptied out the army, and also took their guns away – from the army.

They slaughtered 600 young men and soldiers. At 6.30am, they entered all the bases, there weren’t any weapons, there was nothing. The police didn’t have guns, the policeman, killed them like that, like ducks. They took all the commanders captive.

The Brigadier General, the deputy Brigadier General – everyone is in captivity now.

==

And they slaughtered 600 soldiers, and another 1,000 boys and girls.

From Kibbutz Re’eim until Miflasim – 40km – all the road was full of the murdered. The ambulances couldn’t arrive to evacuate them, because of all those murdered.

This was young men and young women – everyone with a tattoo, of course. And everyone is already in Gan Eden, baruch Hashem.

And only a girl who had a tattoo, she merited to enter Gan Eden.

A girl who doesn’t have tattoos – she needs to stay in Shuvu Banim until [she’s] 120 – she doesn’t have a choice. Maybe, just maybe, she’ll enter Gan Eden, if she’s at melave malka, and she sings all the zemirot – so then she will also enter Gan Eden.

==

So, we need to know that all this, Rabbenu did – all the war, all the ‘victories’ – the Tzaddik is doing all of this.

We will meet each other, meet each other, meet each other.

It’s possible to see the Rebbe.

And then, Rabbi Natan ran after the carriage[2], and there was a miracle, that someone stopped it. Rabbi Natan said: “I am going to run after the carriage, I don’t care, a carriage pulled by four horses…”

And then someone stopped it by the bridge.

(You can see the bridge, as you enter Uman, you can see the bridge. That is where the carriage was stopped.)

And like that, Rabbi Natan arrived, and was able to catch-up to the carriage.

==

The Rebbe asked him: What do you want? A bracha, or some Torah?

[Rav Natan] said: “I want Torah.”

And then, the Rebbe told him the Torah [lesson] about the subject of the mishkan, Lesson 282, that the Tzaddikim are building the mishkan, that we now read about the mishkan.

FOOTNOTES:

[1] Rabbenu’s tomb was actually located in the garden of this woman’s house.

This is a snippet of the background story, from Moment Magazine HERE:

The Soviets parceled out its land after the war. As the story goes, a Jewish convert requested the plot that held Nachman’s remains.

He built a small house and erected a courtyard around the grave, which was marked with poured concrete. The house successfully protected the site when apartment buildings were later constructed around it.

Neighbors complained to the authorities, however, because the convert allowed Jews to visit and pray. He was forced to give up the house, and a less friendly non-Jewish woman moved in.

[2] This is referring to a story brought in the Breslov writings of when the young Rabbi Natan chased after Rebbe Nachman’s carriage on foot, as he was leaving Uman.

UPDATE:

So, I managed to track down the original story of how the house was built with the grave in the garden, protecting Rabbenu’s tomb from being made the foundation of a Soviet block of flats, on the Ukraine Jewish Heritage site, HERE.

Snippet:

In 1947 the local authorities decided to build on the territory of destroyed Old Jewish Cemetery.

Rabbi Zanvil Lyubarskiy from Lvov knew the exact location of the grave and bought this piece of land through a local called Mikhail. Rabbi constructed a house near the grave so that the tomb was under the wall and the window. But Mikhail was afraid he would be discovered and he sold the site to a gentile family.

The new owners did not the Jews and wouldn’t let them visit this holy grave.

After some time the house was sold again to another gentile family and the new owner allowed the Hasidim access to pray until 1996 when the house was bought by Breslover Hasidim for USD 130,000.

It’s at least possible that ‘Zanwill Lyubarski’ is actually a direct descendant of Rebbe Nachman himself, via his daughter Chaya.

Chaya apparently married twice, her first husband was ZALMAN LUBARSKI, and her second husband is said to be AHARON ZASLAVSKI, a grandson of the Alter Rebbe of Chabad, via his daughter Frieda and ‘Eliyahu’ (who we figured out in a different post was probably one and the same as PINCHAS ROSANES SHICK, the main treasurer of the KOLLEL RAISENAI).

That particular family tree involving AHARON ZASLAVSKI is a total mess, and crawling with Frankists.

Also, AHARON’s brother seems to be none other than the freemason BARUCH SHICK, who we also figured out was the grandson of the Alter Rebbe, via this same FRIEDA m ELIYAHU-PINCHAS ROSANES SHICK.

You can see this bit of the family tree HERE.

==

Anyhu, it’s at least possible that ‘ZANWILL LYUBARSKI’ is a descendant of NACHMAN CHAYALES LUBARSKI, Rabbenu’s grandson.

Which would explain why a ‘chabadnik’ was making the pilgrimage to Rabbenu’s grave every Rosh Chodesh in the first place.

I have no idea what other ‘clues’ are hiding out here, but nothing the Rav says is incidental.
