Prayer to be ‘saved’ from the internet
Reposting this, from six years ago.
It’s the Rav’s prayer to be ‘saved’ from the internet.
I said it for 3 years straight, and the last two years, I think it’s finally starting to kick in…
I was reminded by this from a thoughtful comment from ASD, about how God helps people who are really yearning to get offline as much as possible, to keep moving in that direction.
I am really yearning to get offline again.
Basically, hafetza is the only reason to keep plugging away here, at the moment, but after the discussion about the Rav and smartphones, where even people who are apparently ‘with the Rav’ had such a huge ‘anti’ reaction, it’s really made wonder if perhaps there is much point in continuing.
Still doing hitbodedut, still asking God for some clarity, still carrying on, however that comes to me, in the meantime.
But, I would love to spend more of my time perhaps doing something more useful with real people, offline.
So, we’ll see where all that leads, and in the meantime, if you are also starting to feel totally soul-sickened every time you go ‘online’, this prayer is for you.
Enjoy!

A Prayer to Stop the Internet
Ribono Shel Olam, Master of the world, Who can do everything.
Please strengthen us with deep joy, and may we never look at the internet again.
And may we always pray every word and letter with kavana.
And every second, may we simply be attached to You, with our 248 limbs and 365 sinews, with all our nefesh, ruach, neshama, chaya, and yechida.
And may we see Eliyahu (52) HaNavi (68), may his memory (233) be for a blessing (47) = 400, face to face, whose eyes (220) were pure (180) = 400.
Please answer, Hashem!
“Remember, Hashem, [to repay] the offspring of Edom, on the day of Jerusalem; [repay] those who say: Destroy! Destroy! Down to its very foundation!” (Tehilim 137)
Please answer, Hashem!
Let us merit to have the intellect of our Holy (415) and Awesome (268) Rabbeinu (268) Nachman (148) ben (52) Simcha (353) ben (52) Feigue (94), and to see Eliyahu (52) HaNavi (68), may his memory (233) be for a blessing (47) = 2598, face to face.
And through this, may we merit the verse:
“And for all (86) the great (98) and awesome (252) and for all (86) the mighty (19) hand (125) that (501) Moshe (345) performed (375) before the eyes (170) of all (50) Israel (541)” = 2598.

PS: Someone asked the Rav whether it’s ok to use AI to translate his words into different languages.
He said doing that is OK, just FYI.
I think it’s probably ‘sweetening’ AI each time someone runs the Rav’s holy words through it, so the more the merrier, at this point. (With careful double-checking, to make sure it’s correct…)

Thanks, Nahman!
Can you explain numbers? I know every letter is number, but how is it significant here?
