Excerpt of shiur from June 7th, 2026 – Monday night

So we said that yesterday the war started, you can already get up for chatzot, you be awake the whole night.[1]

And now, in the end, they announced that all our plans [for people to get up for chatzot] came to naught, they were nullified. The Iranians said that they want [a cease fire], that they are stopping the war.

Their rockets are finished, they fired ten rockets at 12 midnight, and there was a siren. At six in the morning, they fired another ten rockets, and the Yemenites also joined the party, the ‘symphony’, because it’s a symphony.

It’s a fireworks display. They weren’t prepared for there to be a fireworks display, they heard that Shuvu Banim are standing on the rooftops and want to catch the rockets. They didn’t agree to this.

So, they stopped the war.

I haven’t checked the news today before posting this up.

Yesterday, we were on track, supposedly, for more ‘peace in the Middle East’, but each five minutes the story changes, so who knows what is really happening?

Rabbenu teaches that ‘knowing nothing’ is actually the highest level, so that’s a silver lining to this state of perpetual ‘know-nothing-ness’, that we all find ourselves right now.

I find myself drifting away into my thoughts a lot at the moment, or to be more accurate, drifting back into my worries, when I’m supposed to be having a chat with my husband or doing something else.

It’s not just the war.

My parents are currently homeless, and it’s not proving so easy for them to find new rented accommodation in the UK. I am worrying about it, even though that doesn’t really help much.
