Getting real
The last few days, I’ve been going through a very intense process of ‘getting real’.
I’m still not totally out the other side, but I am approaching it, BH.
The process has been internal and external.
Internally, it’s accepting that I can’t be all things to all people, I have to say ‘no’ more than is comfortable, and I have to finally start putting myself ‘in the picture’ too, and not just jumping around trying to accomodate everyone else.
That sounds kinda selfish even as I type it, but my health has been showing me, that if I don’t incorporate that level of ‘getting real’ into my life, right now, there is going to be some serious consequences, down the road.

Another getting real event is happening around the real estate in Jerusalem.
Here is a newsflash: nothing is selling, pretty much anywhere except the highest of high end for wealthy americans, whose money is making aliya while they stay stuck in the goldene medina.
Sellers and agents are living in fantasy land, all over the country, thinking the boom can never bust, because it’s Israel.
It’s kind of like First Temple times, when the inhabitants thought they could do whatever sins they wanted, offer up their sheep in the Beit HaMikdash, and carry on with evil business as usual.

But now, there’s AI.
And AI tells you about sites like this: nadlan.gov.il, which gives you hard data on what things are ACTUALLY selling for in Jerusalem.
Bottom line: way, way, way less than is being asked.
And, what’s more, that site also shows that the average prices of the things that ARE selling in Jerusalem have dropped by around 5-10% the last 12 months.
With all these new housing units coming online in the next 5-10 years, that is only going to accelerate.

I had this epiphany this morning, that I am not going to sit here waiting for delusional sellers to stop being delusional, any more.
I am going to keep looking for ‘real people’, who really want to sell, at real prices – which probably means, not where I want to live.
But, an apartment in Jerusalem is an apartment in Jerusalem, even if it’s pinui binui, so, so be it.

How many of us are stuck in lives, in decisions, in wants, that are totally based on fantasy?
That is the question.
God is knocking on everyone’s door, with the same basic message right now:
GET REAL!!!
Stop lying to yourself, and everyone else, about what is really going on.
Yes, of course, the perfect fantasy home / lifestyle / family / job would be great…
It doesn’t exist.
And even when it does seem to exist, that’s usually also an illusion, with a huge price tag attached in a bunch of hidden ways.

The true key to happiness, is getting real.

Chag Sukkot Sameach, I’ll continue this in a few days time, BH.

I just read that developers are now renting out unsold units.
The only reason that these units are ‘unsold’ is because the developers are refusing to lower the price. Everything sells, at the right price. There is so much ‘dimayon’ underpinning this housing crisis, and greed.
REMEMBER THAT THE HOME YOU MAKE WITH HASHEM IS WONDERFUL NO MATTER WHAT SIZE
FAMILY VISITS ARE JUST THAT A VISIT NOT A SLEEP OVER
ENJOY LIFE IN THE RAL WORLD
WE ARE ALL VERY PROUD OF YOU
