Defamation – A very thought-provoking film
It’s by an Israeli director, Yoav Shamir.
And it’s one of the most ‘balanced’ pieces of journalism I’ve seen on film.
Because ‘balanced journalism’ doesn’t really exist any more, especially around the subject of Jews and Israel, it may be a little uncomfortable to hear views from both sides of the argument.
That’s a state of mochin d’katnut, where we can’t even hear someone say something we deeply disagree with.
I’m urging a mochin d’gadlut for this.
He’s bringing out some very important ideas, some very important information – not least, about where the ‘real problem’ lies in what is going on in Israel and the Jewish community.

Watch, make your own minds up.

What a sad, psychopathic spectacle. It’s hard to watch for any length of time. Arch grifters from the top down, every last one of them completely devoid of Torah or historical awareness or even nuance (whether or not they don kippot), indoctrinating the next generation to take over and perpetuate the trauma cycle.
What was v interesting to me, is that when you put the pointless labels to one side, you see that the thoughtful Jews on all sides of the debate have much more in common, than seperates us. That’s the biggest ‘trick’ the puppets in power have managed to pull off, getting caring jews to ‘demonise’ each other as ‘leftists’ or ‘rightists”.
any perusal of u.s media shows a torrent of resentment of the amer jewish lobby influence on foriegn policy getting them involved in war and financial support of israel at a time of great economic difficulty foe “working class” people.by itself it isnt jew hatred but it leads often to it combined with the horrific scenes coming out of gaza and people reacting without considering hamas underlying cause of it/jews in new york especially charedim who “stand out” are caught in the chrosshairs and are in great danger
the above remark was meant in addition to the pre oct 7 anti semitism so as the crisis today has greatly increased. (also the whole epstein saga and suspicion of possible mossad blackmail of u..s politicians and pedophilia)
I’m a ben Noach, and where I live, I feel a heavy atmosphere. People are still somewhat wary of speaking out against the Jewish community to avoid being stereotyped as anti-Semites, but some leftists have long since abandoned the two-state solution. They literally defend it from the river to the sea. The problem, in my view, is that there are certain extremist elements within Israel, who, however well-intentioned, hold very extreme views that, in my view, are not compatible with the Torah. Like Eliyahu Yossian, who is a more politically radical analyst. I think that verbalizing the death of babies and pregnant women, however theoretical, does profound harm to the soul. And generally speaking, Muslims are monotheists, they are truly bnei Noach, and should not be confused with the Philistines of old. Unfortunately, there is a sea of confusion today being rebranded as religion.
Lots of mixed feelings about this film. The ADL has become even more controversial in the USA since Jonathan Greenblat took over. I had my concerns over Foxman but prior to Oct 7th Greeblat had turned it to ‘saving the world’, not really about Jews at all. Since 10/7 he’s had to change his tune.
A lot of playing on the emotions of young people, I could sympathise with the guard’s comments.
Of course this was 2009, 10/7 has made a big change. The Gaza envelope could now be a substitute (?). The Arab/Muslim world is after all where most antisemitism is promoted nowadays.
Interestingly, as the ‘solution’ to antisemitism in the UK, more holocaust education has been suggested with the new Memorial in Westminster gaining new advocates. (Personally I think it’s entirely wrong, serves no purpose except virtue signalling, especially as it’s to feature ‘all genocides’.)
Some people have pointed out that the more Holocaust education there has been, the more anti Jewish hate has grown in the UK too, so perhaps the whole thing needs rethinking.
I didn’t realise the film was that old. I agree, things have changed a lot since then. But politicising the holocaust continues… and I also wonder how much damage that has really done to the Jewish cause.
