It’s going to take me a day or two to translate the rest of the Rav’s comments on the halachic discussion around ‘killing the people of Shechem’.

Baruch Hashem, he brings a lot of sources and insights, and approaches the question from multiple viewpoints.

If you are familiar with the process of ‘teasing out the truth’ that occurs in the Gemara’s discussion, the way the Rav discusses these things will probably be familiar to you.

I was asking my husband why it is, that the Gemara also sets up so many ‘false arguments’ as apparently being the correct approach, only to often end with a conclusion that is precisely the opposite, and overturns all that comes before it.

He explained that the Gemara is trying to teach people how to really explore all the facets of a question, and to really think things through properly, and not just ‘give them the punchline’.

He also explained that most of the arguments in the Gemara are actually around a very fine point of halacha – the detail of how to actually apply the  halacha, in practise.

No-one is arguing against the idea that Jews have to defend themselves properly against our murderous enemies.

The discussion is solely about the best way to do that, tachlis, taking all the factors into account.

And the Rav has some very interesting insights, which BH I will continue to translate and post up here, so you can think for yourself some more, about this subject.

In the meantime, given the ongoing onslaught of abusive psychos who like to comment here, I thought I would post up a series of articles I did a while back, for a different blog, about dealing with narcissists.

It’s the Rav’s shita to accept all the abuse that comes his way with love.

I have been trying to emulate that – for years! – on this blog, but I have to say the last few months, I have been reaching the point where I’ve had enough of the anonymous psychos who come out swinging with personal insults, instead of actually trying to grapple with the real questions and differences of opinion that are part and parcel of trying to tease out where the truth is, in this world of lies.

Life is way too short to waste any more precious time ‘talking to the wall’ with these people.

So, in the meantime, here’s a deep-dive on ‘narcissists’, how to spot them, and how to try to deal with them.

I personally still believe that a dyed-in-the-wool narcissist can change – but only if you adopt spiritual measures like paying a massive pidyon nefesh for them, to get out of the ‘narcissist klipa’ that’s gobbled up their soul.

How do people with personality disorders act?

NB: Throughout these articles, I’m going to be focussing on narcissism, as while it’s the least ‘obvious’ Cluster B personality disorder, it’s also the least understood, and, I believe, the most prevalent, particularly within the Jewish community. Also, narcissism is usually co-diagnosed as being present together with the other more obvious Cluster B personality disorders.

Let’s begin with the question of questions: why are personality disorders so bad? And why, exactly, are they having such a devastating affect on our communities, family relationships and mental and emotional health?

To try to begin to answer that question, let me paint a picture of the home environment a child grows up, when they’re raised by a parent who has a Cluster ‘B’ personality disorder.

That child grows up in an environment saturated with covert and overt power moves, where relentless manipulation and emotional terror tactics can create an overwhelming feeling of toxic shame, guilt and fear that can literally paralyse the child emotionally, and make them feel physically ill. Children of parents with Cluster B personality disorders are constantly criticised; are subject to implicit and explicit expressions of parental anger; and usually feel that they have no real free choice, to ‘be’ themselves, and to make their own decisions.

The following is taken from an e-book called ‘Narcissists Exposed’, in the Chapter entitled: Identifying Narcissists, which describes how narcissists typically behave towards other people:

“Much of the following may be hidden, to prevent others from rejecting the narcissist:

  • Lack of empathy and genuine concern for others
  • Everything is ‘about them’
  • Critical and judgemental behaviour
  • Wants to be obeyed, or pitied, or admire. Can become annoyed or angry when this doesn’t happen
  • Marked attachment to roles involving praise / credit / power
  • Usually serves others only because of underlying or hidden ulterior motives
  • Fragile ego – can’t tolerate being questioned
  • Disdainful, rejecting, resentful, snobbish
  • Believes they are more physically attractive or more intelligent than others, often even if not
  • Phoniness and lying to make themselves look better
  • Misuse of power, can be highly disempowering of others
  • Inability to simply be one of the crowd, a beginner or just play a small role – needs to immediately stand out as superior / special
  • Vindictiveness and smear campaigns against people who disagree with them
  • Preoccupation (often hidden) with whether or not others form a favourable impression of them, as opposed to caring about the quality of the relationship”

‘Narcissists Exposed’ also described some other key things that narcissists do:

1) They refuse responsibility. They don’t take responsibility for anything they’ve done wrong, even when you can prove it to them.

2) They lie. Narcissists lie are prepared to lie about anything, even small things like whether they take a nap on Shabbat, and certainly about big things, like what they did or said to hurt you.

3) They look down on you. Everything is a ‘comparison’ to narcissists, and they have to come out on top. Narcissists don’t value other people’s opinions or lifestyles. They have to feel ‘bigger’ by making other people feel smaller. Everything is a competition.

4) They’re two-faced. They act nice, even flattering to your face, yet can  spread the most horrible lies and slander – which of course they’ll flat out deny – behind your back.

5) They’re vindictive. “The narcissist has a seemingly inexhaustible obsession for making people who cross them (eg, disagree with them or fail to go along with their wishes) ‘pay’. There is no level they will not stoop to in order to ‘punish’ you.”

6) They project psychologically. This means that they accuse you of whatever they are in fact doing. For example, if you try to tell a narcissist that they hurt you, they will ignore you, and turn it completely around: “You hurt me!!!” It’s a lethal combination of self-righteous anger, criticism and complete avoidance of the truth.

7) They smear people who oppose them. They’ll slander you to your Rabbi, to your mother, to your best friend, to your husband, to your kids, or to your boss. Often under a guise of simply ‘caring’ or ‘worrying’ about you.

Narcissists in particular will go to great lengths to depict themselves to the outside world as ‘upright’, ‘caring’ individuals, and real ‘pillar of the community’ type of people.

But a very different picture begins to emerge behind closed doors.

Why narcissists and free choice just don’t go together

Free-choice is the whole reason that G-d created the world, but when a person has narcissist parents, their free choice goes out the window. A child of a narcissist parent has to do things simply because the narcissist said so. This is because the emotional cost of going against a narcissist parent is so high, most children (whether 5 years old or 35 years old) would never risk doing so.

This isn’t just a problem that occurs with secular narcissistic parents. Many people with personality disorders actually like tradition, and Torah and good manners, and are externally very ‘pious’ – although not for the right reasons.

Narcissists will learn Torah to show off their intellectual superiority, or to help them win arguments or to force other people to do things ‘their way’. While they are very keen to adopt external stringencies or ‘humrot’, at least in public (and to force their kids into going along with them), they won’t apply the Torah they learn to their own actions, their own negative character traits, or their own hearts.

For example, narcissists are often fanatical about Pesach cleaning, or  insisting that their children sit quietly at the table throughout the entire Shabbat meal. Because they put so much emphasis on impressing other people and are drawn to positions of influence and power, many narcissists may even be a notable ‘Rabbi’, scholar or rebbetzin.

But where as genuinely holy people are humble, self-effacing and genuinely don’t say a bad word about anyone else, narcissists will use their position of influence to show off, say damaging things about other people and generally mock and disparage anyone and anything that isn’t in strict alignment with their own worldview.

That’s because another defining trait of Jewish narcissists is that their way of doing things is the only right way.

Religiously, wherever the Jewish narcissist is holding, that is the only correct place. Other people will be ‘too frum’, or ‘not frum enough’, and don’t even get them started about all the ‘stupid minhagim’ and ‘stupid ideas’ and ‘illogical practices’ and ‘weird humrot‘ (religious stringencies) practised by other people.

Narcissism thrives in an atmosphere of lies and intimidation.

By contrast, authentic Judaism thrive in atmosphere of openness and truth. G-d’s seal is truth, and the truth is: Ein Od Milvado! There is only Him. Once a person starts to internalise this first rule of emuna, they can start to escape narcissists’ attempts to control them by fear and bullying tactics.

Also, the more a person is connected to truth, and living a life of truth, the easier it gets to start challenging all the lies that Jewish narcissists tell, which is another crucial part of being spiritually prepared to live in Moshiach’s world of truth.

Judaism is a code of law for living.

G-d has set down rules guiding everything from what we eat, to how we relate to other people. When we follow G-d’s rules, we are doing good. Jewish narcissists hate this, as it sets up an objective framework of making people accountable for their actions – and narcissists normally refuse to take any responsibility for the nasty, inappropriate and destructive things that they do, say and cause.

Narcissists excel in mind-games, and are adept at trying to brainwash others into believing that their subjective notion of ‘right and wrong’ is the only definition that counts.

But when someone genuinely believes in a Higher Power, in G-d, then this doesn’t work any more, because the question becomes: What does G-d say? What does G-d want? And narcissists, even externally very ‘pious’ ones, will only agree with G-d when it suits them.

Narcissists fundamentally believe that they are the centre of the universe. They simply don’t ‘see’ anyone else in the picture, not their children, not other people, and certainly not G-d.

So a key way of spotting a Jewish narcissist, particularly in religious circles, is to see how much they put G-d into their conversation.

In my experiences, even the most externally pious narcissist will have extreme difficulty giving any credit or acknowledgement to Hashem.

They might pepper their conversations with ‘thank G-d’, or ‘Baruch Hashem’, but it’s never more than that. If G-d happens to show up in one of the stories they are repeating (they can’t originate their own Torah ideas, and so constantly regurgitate stories and anecdotes that they’ve heard from other people) – all well and good. But a Jewish narcissist will never tell you how G-d helped them out of a tight spot, or share a meaningful ‘prayer’ moment with you, for example.

Narcissists relate to people by ‘talking at’ them.

They aren’t interested in what the other person has to say, or what they think, or what they feel, because they lack empathy, defined as the ability to put themselves into another person’s shoes, and to see things from another’s perspective – and the same is also true of any relationship they claim to have with G-d.

Many narcissists genuinely do believe in God, but their relationship to the Creator is warped by the same factors that make their interpersonal relationships with other people so difficult and strained: G-d is there to listen to them; God is there solely to fix their problems; God is there just to serve them.

The impact of narcissism on the Jewish soul

The crucial aspect of Jewish narcissism is that whatever route they take, whether ‘pro’ or ‘anti’ religious, Jewish narcissists completely kill the inner dimension and spiritual uplift of the mitzvoth they, and others, are involved in.

The overriding preoccupation for Jewish narcissists (and all narcissists) is ‘how does it look?’ By contrast, a non-narcissist Jewish soul is attracted to matters of the spirit; how does it feel?

Another key indication that you’re dealing with a Jewish narcissist – however ‘religious’ or otherwise they may be – is that nothing ever changes on the inside (although the outside often changes dramatically overnight, because it’s all pretend).

The Jewish soul is an amazing creation; it’s a part of Hashem, and each individual soul contains a mind-boggling infinite ability to grow, develop, shine and help build the world.

Perhaps one of the most dangerous ways that Jewish narcissists can pull other Jews away from G-d, and away from their own true missions in life, is by creating a society, a family, an atmosphere, a community where nothing genuinely ever changes, at the spiritual level.

Jewish narcissists HATE change, particularly inner change that makes people more authentically ‘them’ and subsequently more attached to G-d.

This comes through very clearly in the secular literature on narcissists.

Take this, from

“Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is a pattern of self-centred or egotistical behaviour that shows up in thinking and behaviour in a lot of different situations and activities. People with NPD won’t (or can’t) change their behaviour even when it causes problems at work or when other people complain about the way they act, or when their behaviour causes a lot of emotional distress to others.”

And this:

“[because] a prime characteristic of narcissists is believing that they are always right no matter what, narcissists are extremely resistant to change and, unfortunately, tend to get worse as they get older.”

And this:

“A striking thing about narcissists that you’ll notice if you know them for a long time is that their ideas of themselves and the world don’t change with experience; the ones I’ve known have been stalled at a vision that came to them by the age of 16.”

You have to admit you’re wrong, at least occasionally, in order to make sincere teshuva, and to grow and to change.

And this is something that narcissists can’t do.

Ad kan.

As always, there’s a ton more to say.

Bottom line, all these ‘personality disorders’ are caused by serious trauma in this life, and / or tikkunim from previous incarnations, that get the holy, pure soul ‘trapped’ in a klipa that Western pseudo-science calls a ‘personality disorder’.

As the levels of trauma and stress are rocketing up all over the world right now, the ‘personality disorder’ issue is becoming more prevalent again.

Under serious stress, most of us will act like a psycho, at least a little bit.

That’s not ‘being a narcissist’.

‘Being a narcissist’ is when you never really apologise for anything horrible you do, you never really change your mind about anything, and you just keep insulting, twisting and abusing others, when they come close to revealing that maybe, just maybe, you got something wrong, you did something wrong, and you aren’t ‘perfect’, after all.

May God immediately heal all the people with serious personality disorders.

And may He also protect the rest of us from them, until that actually happens.

More obvious hashgacha pratit….

I sat down to read this week’s Shivivei Or, which brings the Rav’s latest shiurim all neatly typed up, and whaddya know?

He gave a whole shiur back on November 20th, where he went into a lot of detail about the halachic debate between the RAMBAM and the RAMBAN on whether it was permissible, halachically, for Shimon and Levi to have killed all the people of Shechem, after their prince (Shechem…) raped and kidnapped Yaakov’s daughter Dina.

‘Dean Maughvet’ also gets a few mentions….

So without any further ado, here it is:

Excerpt of a shiur given in Beer Sheva on Monday, 7th Kislev 5784

Now, all of Be’eri is sending their children to cheider.

Some of them are in Eilat, some of them are to be found in Mishmar HaEmek, some went to Mishmar HaYarden – and all of them are looking for cheiders.

Now, [they are] saying that everything happened to us because we don’t learn Torah, because we didn’t teach our children Torah.

Without the Torah, it’s impossible – impossible! – to fight with the whole world.

Even Biden said give it to Hamas, give it to Abu Mazen. Abu Mazen is a tzaddik, I know that he’s a tzaddik. What a tzaddik…. So give it to Abu Mazen, the authority.

What, all day long you just conquer and conquer! How many [Jews] were killed?! 1500, 1400, they are saying it’s just 1200. So, kill 1200 [terrorists]! How many have you killed, already?! Without stopping, you just don’t stop. From the start, you just didn’t know how to stop!

Like in Shechem.

[Shimon and Levi] killed everyone. Poor things…

Twenty four thousand, 24,000 funerals! It was impossible to stand up, there was no room, not in Assouta, not in Ashdod, not in Soroka, there wasn’t room, not in Ichilov and not in Tel HaShomer.[1]

24,000 were killed! What do you do with 24,000 dead?

And they took the women and the children.

So the RAMBAN asks, why didn’t Yaacov do it (i.e. Kill all the inhabitants of Shechem after the rape and kidnapping of Dina.)?

And he even cursed them! [Shimon and Levi]: “Accursed is their rage for it is intense, and their wrath for it is harsh.”[2]

What does it mean, accursed is their rage for it is intense? Why say accursed is their rage for it is intense?

They did something good, they freed their sister, they freed Dina their sister. And this things should have been done by Yaakov, not to leave the brothers to do it.

Except, Yaakov knew that they needed to fight with the whole city, because why, really, did [Shimon and Levi] kill the whole city?

Because the whole city was protecting Shechem [i.e. The one who raped and kidnapped Dina].

Yaakov was the pinnacle of kedusha (holiness). Yaakov was the fairest of the Patriarchs, his brit was rectified. Reuven was born from the first drop. For 84 years, he didn’t have any ‘drops’ – no drops!

Their blood was as important to them as water.

The RAMBAM says that they deserved din mavet (a death sentence).

The RAMBAN says, what are you talking about, they deserved din mavet?! What, are you a beit din? Are you a Sanhedrin?

What’s the explanation of ‘din mavet’? You need to bring a Sanhedrin, to bring a beit din. So, how are you murdering a whole city?

And Yaakov knew that if he would go to get Dina out, that the whole city would come to defend, the whole city would come to protect Shechem. Shechem was the most important, he was son of Hamor. His father was called ‘Hamor’.

It’s like Shimshon said:

With the jawbone of a donkey, heap upon heaps. With the jawbone of a donkey I have struck down a thousand men.”[3]

Each blow from Shimshon was 1,000 men. And he killed even more people with his death than in his life, because then [at the time he died, he killed] 3,000 [Philistines]. But this was only the ones standing on the roof. Inside, there were millions upon millions, maybe billions. And it’s impossible to know how many.

And so now, they [i.e. The Palestinians in Gaza] are paying for everything.

Because Shimshon said: “My Lord Hashem / Elokim! Remember me and strengthen me and strengthen me just this one time, O God, and I will exact vengeance from the Philistines for one of my two eyes!”[4]

The whole matter is ‘one eye’, not two eyes….

It’s written that Armilus the Rasha will come with ‘one eye’.

Armilus the Rasha, who will make the war of Gog and Magog, he will come with just one eye. He will have just one eye in his forehead.

You should know, that this is Armilus. Know how to recognise him! Identify him!

But only the great-grandchildren of the great-grandchildren of your great-grandchildren will see him, Armilus the Rasha.

Then, no trace of the Jewish people will remain, just 7,000 men. From all of Am Yisrael, just 7,000!

And then Armilus the Rasha will come with his one eye, and he’s meant to conquer Eretz Yisrael – but he won’t succeed.

[Skipping some]

So now, the RAMBAN’s question is why didn’t Yaakov free Dina, if it was a mitzvah to free Dina – then Yaakov should free her!

Yaakov Avinu was meant to do it before them. The person who was meant to have freed Dina was Yaakov Avinu. It’s not appropriate for Shimon and Levi. True, Dina was their sister, but even  more so – [Yaakov was her father].

So, the RAMBAM says that he [Shechem] deserved the sword [i.e. beheading – one of the four types of death meted out by a Beit Din].

Everyone deserved the sword, all the people of Shechem deserved death, because Shechem stole Dina, and they didn’t judge him.

So, the RAMBAM says this about the book of Judges. The RAMBAM says why were they deserving of death? – halacha 14, as an aside to the commandment to set up courts of judgement.

The RAMBAM says that it’s permitted to kill them, these Gazans, because now they are going to them 30,000 liters of petrol a a day.

I asked for one liter, and they didn’t give it to me. No, I’m telling you the truth, this hurt me a lot.

So, 30,000 a day, and they are going to up this to 90,000 [liters of petrol] a day. So instead of destroying all of Gaza, they are giving them 30,000 [liters] a day.

The non-Jews are commanded to set up courts, they are obligated to set up courts and judges.

They don’t have any courts, and they don’t have any judges. They went to murder children, babies. They kidnapped babies 10 months old, they abducted babies.

In each and every region, they will be judged on these six mitzvot, and warn the people. And whichever Noachide transgresses one of these seven mitzvot will be killed by the sword.

Every Noachide who transgresses one of these seven commandments, to come to their own mother, the wife of his father, to commit adultery, to worship idols, or to ‘bless’ Hashem – even if he’s just transgressed one of the six categories of arayot[5], that they think it’s permitted for them to do…

The RAMBAM says, it doesn’t matter.

Even if they are sure they are permitted to do it, it’s still permitted to kill them [if they commit that transgression].

And all of them are doing it!

The six categories of arayot for them, or if they steal something, even if it’s worth less than a pruta… Or they eat something minimally associated with ever min hahai – because they don’t even know what ever min hahai is.

[The Rav now gets into a lengthy discussion again based on the Rambam’s ruling that chicken technically doesn’t require shechita from the Torah, but shechita is performed on fowl de’Rabbanan etc, before returning to the subject at hand.]

Now, we are asking, how was it permissible [according to halacha] to kill the people of Shechem?

And it’s written that the sons of Yaakov took hostage the women and children.

So, if you will say that the people of Shechem were against Dina being freed, because [the kidnapper] was Shechem, then it’s not possible to enter the city, Shechem.

Shuvu Banim don’t go into Shechem[6], it’s forbidden to enter Shechem, there’s no such thing as this.

But Yosef HaTzaddik is found in Shechem, and he chai v’kayam, and he protects those who travel to there.

So now, we are asking how was it permitted to kill the whole of Shechem, and to take captive the women and the children and the babies?

What did the women do? You can say that the men were still protecting Shechem, but the women couldn’t defend him. So, why take them captive? They took the women and the children, they took everyone into captivity.

Why did they do this? Why did they take everyone into captivity?

And if Dina needed to be freed, so Yaakov should have done this [and not Shimon and Levi].

Except, Yaakov was afraid.

He didn’t want to fight in Shechem, and also Biden didn’t let him.

Then, there was also ‘Biden Number 1’, today it’s ‘Biden Number 2’. So, there was ‘Biden Number 1’, who told him you are not going into Shechem. I don’t let you.

Like now, he’s not letting them go into Lebanon. Lebanon is firing tens of rockets every single day, but assur! He doesn’t let them go in. So they just fire back at them.

In the meantime, Shalom Aboudi from Tiberious was killed…He went to fix some electric cable and they fired a rocket at his car. It’s not known if even a trace remains of him. He was called Shalom Aboudi. This happened last Wednesday, in Dovev, Moshav Dovev.

He was meant to have fixed some electric cable there, and they fired a rocket at this car. So, the Hizbollah fired a rocket, and the State stays silent. Also now, in Sderot.

To be continued…BH

PS: The Rav has mentioned ‘Shimon Aboudi’ quite a few times now, so I went to look him up and I found this:

There is probably something ‘interesting’ going on with this… but I don’t know what.

[1] All names of hospitals in Israel.

[2] Bereishit 49:7.

[3] Judges 15:16.

[4] Judges 16:28.

[5] Sexual immorality.

[6] Whilst Shuvu Banim has been going into Shechem regularly, with or without an army escort, beginning in 5783, the Rav started to make some very strong statements telling Shuvu Banim that going into Shechem was currently very dangerous, and no-one should be going in by themselves.

Rebbe Nachman on real Jewish leaders.

Reposting this article on the difference between luminaries of fire and luminaries of light, from 2016. While so much has changed since then, sadly, so much really hasn’t. And Rabbenu’s wisdom is even more necessary, in these dark days where we really need the real ‘light’ of real tzaddikim to show us the path forward.

In Part 2 of Likutey Moharan, Lesson 67, Rebbe Nachman writes:

“There are luminaries of light and luminaries of fire, and they are antagonistic [i.e. opposing each other.]

When the luminaries of light are empowered, the luminaries of fire are subdued, and inversely, when the luminaries of light are subdued and diminished, the luminaries of fire are empowered.”

A little later on in that same lesson, Rebbe Nachman explains that:

“When someone who totally lacks God’s name becomes renowned – when his name becomes renowned and exalted – God’s name becomes diminished and disappears.

Then, pseudo-miracle workers and magicians become exalted, and things happen in the world against which only the names of demonic powers are able to protect…. “Fires are caused in the world on account of the names of these ignominiously renowned people becoming great and enhanced, for this causes God’s name to disappear, the luminaries of light to be subdued, and the luminaries of fire to become empowered.”

What is Rabbenu telling us here?

Firstly, he’s telling us that some of the rabbis, leaders and spiritual mentors in the world are the good guys – the ‘luminaries of light’, and that some of them are the bad guys, or the ‘luminaries of fire’.

This is a fact, however upsetting, and the sooner we come to terms with it, the easier it will be to spot the ‘luminaries of fire’ before they burn us up with their bad advice, false judgment and heretical ideas that are really the antithesis of emuna and serving Hashem.

Rabbenu is also telling us that when the ‘famous’ people in the world are essentially God-less heretics, that’s when these ‘luminaries of fire’ will come to the fore, and that’s when all the pseudo-miracle workers etc will start pouring out of the cracks to confuse us even more.

It’s hard to think of a more secular bunch of ‘elites’ than we have in the world today, whether in Israel or elsewhere.

Who talks about God these days, or includes Him in any policy decisions? Certainly not the politicians, pundits, academics and journalists in Israel, and certainly not the politicians, pundits, academics and journalists anywhere else, either. So that’s the situation we’re currently in.

But Rebbe Nachman is also telling us HOW we can spot who is a faker, and who isn’t:

A luminary of light does just that: they light you up. They exude spiritual light. They shine in the darkness – really literally as well as figuratively.

I remember a few years’ back one of the first times I went to see Rav Arush giving a shiur, his face was mamash shining, and I spent most of the night trying to figure out where the spotlight was…. There was no spotlight.

The same with Rav Berland. So many people describe meeting him in the same way: they were instantly struck by the light of holiness coming off him. It was enough to affect powerful spiritual changes in them without him even saying a word.

Luminaries of fire don’t have that light.

What they have instead is thunderous rhetoric, quick one-liners, heapings of blame, self-righteousness, arrogance, and often very quick tempers for anyone who dares to challenge them, take up too much of their time, or otherwise upset them in some way.

Luminaries of fire are scary people, once you peel off all the ‘fake nice’ that they go to great pains to cover it up with.

They roast you for not being good enough. They blast you for not being tznius enough, or having enough emuna (or simply, for being a flawed human being.) They dole out judgment and advice with narrowed eyes and an obvious dislike (all carefully concealed).

Also, whatever ‘spiritual uplift’ they do possess, it doesn’t illuminate so much as completely burn you out.

Your rapt attention, your obvious devotion and respect – it’s all just fuel for the insatiable fire of their own ego and self-interest.

Before I knew all this, I used to occasionally have phone calls with a ‘luminary of fire’ that would leave me feeling very weird afterwards, like I’d just been mugged somehow, but couldn’t for the life of me work out how, or who’d done it.

It was the luminary of fire, taking all of my respect for them to build a bigger bonfire for themselves. There was some light, too, but it was so hot and uncomfortable speaking to them I subconsciously decided to keep my distance. It’s only when I overcame that reticence, to have the first ‘real’ conversation with them in all the time I’d been following them, that it became shockingly obvious that I was dealing with a faker, a luminary of fire, not a luminary of light.

Let’s end with this: Luminaries of light can hold their candle up even in your darkest hour, and give you a path out of despair.

Luminaries of fire can’t.

The only thing they can do is ‘explode’ in some way – at you, for being such a useless, worthless, imperfect sinner.

Fire is anger. Fire is intolerance. Fire is harsh words, and criticism and machloket.

May the luminaries of light be empowered again very soon, may God’s name be exalted and spoken about once again, and may we all have illumination instead of destruction in our lives.

Ad kan, from 2016.

Just so we’re all super-clear here, I am praying for our soldiers in Gaza every single day, and continuing to do the 1 out of 5 books of tehillim every day, for the soldiers to stay safe, and for the captives to be returned safely.

At the same time, though, it’s obvious that this war is a stage-managed production by ‘the Evils’, and they have no intention of ever letting our soldiers finish the job properly in Gaza.

The Evils love war, violence and destruction of human life – especially when it’s actually fundamentally pointless, and won’t end up with Hamas being eradicated, or anything even close to that.

There are open miracles going on right now, that are keeping the Jewish death toll so low – and may they continue!

But until we understand that both sides are being controlled by the Evils….we are leaving ourselves open to be played and manipulated into having even more Jews killed and wounded.

May Hashem bring all the soldiers and captives back safely. And may He bring all the Jews back to Him, because mass, sincere teshuva is the only way the problem of ‘Hamas’ really goes away permanently.

Let’s get away from all the ‘politics’ for a moment to talk about shidduchim.

A couple of years back, a bunch of my daughter’s friends, some of whom I am very close to, came of marriageable age. While they aren’t ‘chareidi’, they are all big believers in Hashem, and what Israelis would refer to as sincerely ‘dos’.

They like to pray.

They like to visit kivrei tzaddikim.

Many of them, but not all of them, are very into Breslov.

And they all live in the Shomron, close to the bastions of what so many of us call ‘the Hilltop Youth’.

Two years ago, when the shidduch process began in earnest, I had such stars in the my eyes about ‘the Hilltop Youth’, so-called.

Now, I have developed a more realistic assessment of what seems to be going on, and I think it’s useful to share that with you, dear reader, because ‘politics’, and ‘political PR’ keeps getting in the way of actually discussing what is really going on here, and what is really going to get us out of the pit we are all currently stuck in.

First, there is a huge cultural divide between most of the people who settle hilltops in the Shomron, and also in places like Gush Etzion, and the more ‘mainstream’ yishuvim in these areas.

These are broad generalisations, of course, but the ‘mainstream’ yishuvim are not as idealistically motivated by a connection ‘to the ground’ and ‘to Eretz Yisrael’ as many of the people on the hilltops.

Many of the people in the yishuvim are there just because the houses are bigger and much more affordable than in more ‘civilised’ areas.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this, but it’s not ‘idealogical settlement of Eretz Yisrael’ in the same way.

So, when we talk about the ‘residents of YESHA’, it’s a very mixed bunch.

You wouldn’t know this from the news of course, but not all of the people or yishuvim in these areas are ‘religious’  – there are also secular people and secular yishuvim, too.

It’s not just ‘fanatical religious settlers with machine guns and payot’.

Not at all.

Now, let’s take a look a the so-called ‘Hilltop Youth’.

The ‘Hilltop Youth’ from 30 years ago, who have been trying to live on hilltops in the Shomron from an idealogical perspective, are very, very impressive people.

They’ve stayed put in the face of friends and families being murdered by terrorists, stone throwing on the roads, the challenges of having to drive through places like Huwara.

That’s made them very tough, in a lot of ways, and very cynical of the government, and even the bits of the government like ‘Otzma Yehudit’ that claims to represent them.

None of these people – the Israelis that I know personally – talk about ‘Meir Kahane’ obsessively, or how ‘Kahane was right’.

There are no ‘Kach Chai’ stickers, no-one reading Kahane books.

It’s important to understand that tachlis:

Meir Kahane seems to be a particular obsession of Americans and non-Israelis.

OK, so now let’s take a closer look at the Hilltop Youth of our day – the late teens and twenty-somethings.

Until two years ago, I was totally convinced that the Hilltop Youth were idealistic angels, who were just being persecuted because they were anti-establishment, religious and not scared to stand up for their principles.

And that is still a big part of what is going on.

After seeing a few shidduchim come and go, I have come to realise that there is a lot more going on under the surface.

A lot of today’s ‘Hilltop Youth’ kind of gravitated to the area because they were having real issues with their parents, growing up.

Many of them come from broken homes – usually, where the parents were religious, or baal teshuvas.

Many of them kind of ‘ran away’ to the hills of the Shomron, because in that stillness and wilderness, you can still feel a little bit free in your soul.

And there, they met many other young people in the same sort of situation and headspace, who really do ‘love the land’ and ‘hate Arabs’ – but not quite in the way it’s perhaps being portrayed.

In the Shomron, there are still places where you can put up a caravan, or a ‘temporary shelter’, and effectively live somewhere rent-free.

No arnona to pay… no rules to follow….

That’s a huge plus for young people who need to move out of their homes, but who often don’t have any formal training or skills (or desire…) to ‘settle down’ in the mainstream.

The politicians and the army make use of these ‘Hilltop Youth’ to settle places where they don’t want the Arabs to take over.

There is simply no way these settlements would continue without the tacit agreement of both the politicians and the army, periodical ‘destructions’ for public consumption notwithstanding.

Another thing to understand is that while many of these ‘Hilltop Youth’ are religious, many of them are also really not.

I personally know of one ‘hill top’ that started off with a lot of ‘run aways’ from dysfunctional religious homes, but now, 4 years on, most of the hill top is breaking Shabbat and have girlfriends staying over.

Again, it’s not all ‘pious and holy’, and it’s not all black and white – on any level.

OK, so now let’s move to the violence against Arabs.

Two years ago, I was totally convinced that none of the ‘Hilltop Youth’ were doing anything against Arabs except acting 100% in self-defense.

But now…. I have come to an understanding, very sadly, that ‘price tag events’ really are a thing.

I have to say, this understanding has shocked and dismayed me, because ‘price tag events’ – where you go and do something bad to someone because someone totally unrelated did something bad to you – are totally against halacha.

BH, the ‘Hilltop Youth’ who are genuinely with Rebbe Nachman understand this themselves, and they are not participating in this sort of violence.

But to cut a very long story short, not everything the security agencies are accusing the ‘Hilltop Youth’ of doing is a lie.

At the same time, I know someone personally who spent months – months! – in jail for committing the crime of knifing the tyres of a few cars belonging to Arabs.

Clearly, this is totally disproportionate.

At the same time this guy was in prison for months, the judges here were freeing a Palestinian man who’d violently raped a young Jewish woman in Jerusalem – who served way, way less time in prison.

Our ‘justice’ isn’t justice, we all know that.

But why play into their hands, and give them more ‘grist’ for their mill?

Why ruin your own life to have the satisfaction of deflating a few tyres?

That guy was engaged to be married…. the wedding was postponed for many, many months until he finally got out.

And for what?

Tachlis, I made it very clear to my kid and her friends that when it comes to shidduchim, the last thing you want is a husband who:

a) Is on the Shabak watch list.

b) Is justifying their own bad middot, anger and violent tendencies as a ‘mitzvah’.

c) Gets stuck having to live with their divorced mum because they aren’t allowed to go near the Shomron.

There is so much more to say, of course.

Our enemies abroad and sadly, much closer to home, expend huge efforts going on about ‘violent, fanatical settlers’ all the time in the corrupt media.

Because they are trying to tear YESHA away from the Jews, and they are following that well-trodden path of pulling sincere, well-meaning Jews after ‘false leaders’ and ‘agents provocateurs’, to entrap, and smear whole communities.

They did the same thing when they wanted to get Rabin out the way, when he changed his mind about ‘land for peace’.

If all those ‘Kach’ people talking about ‘justified violence’ hadn’t been covered so heavily in the press….

‘The evils’ would have had a much harder time hiding who really pulled the trigger when Rabin was murdered.

The formula worked so well last time, they just have it on ‘rinse and repeat‘ now.

And each time we choose guns over God….. we are just playing into our enemies’ hands.

Is Esav the real enemy here?

Are they using ‘Ishmael’ as their delivery mechanism?

Do they have their ‘agent provocateurs’, false leaders and ‘opinion formers’ embedded – for decades already! – all over the Jewish community?

Does is suit ‘Esav’ to claim that YESHA is full of ‘fanatical, violent settlers who hate Arabs’ – so the only real solution just has to be ‘two states’…..

Think for yourself.

PS: They always hide the truth in plain view, as a ‘joke’:

A few months ago, the penny finally dropped that so many of the ‘famous names’ that populate Jewish history and Jewish genealogy from the last 250 years are actually made-up.

This happened in a few different ways.

Some of it was just the need of the times, when Jews were forced by the secular authorities to start having a surname, and they could choose whatever they wanted.

But especially for those people who think of themselves as ‘the elite’ of the Jewish community, it was also a wonderful opportunity to hide who they really are, and who they are really connected to.

The whitewashing of Jewish genealogy began in earnest after the debacle of the false messiah ‘Shabtai Tzvi’ – aka the famous Vilna codifier, the SHACH.

When ‘Shabtai Tzvi’ apostasised, that left thousands of very big rabbis in very difficult straits – because all our ‘elite’ families have been intermarrying with each other for centuries already.

That family of ‘Kohen Tzedeks’ that gave us the SHACH / Shabtai Tzvi stem from the Exilarchs of Babylon, and before then – the Tzaddukim of Jerusalem.

This has been going on for a very long time.

Anyhu, the process of needing to ‘cover up the genealogy’ intensified after the whole episode of Jacob Frank occurred in the 18th century.

Again, from what I can tell from the tattered few ‘facts’ they didn’t manage to totally expunge from the records, Jacob Frank was probably Jacob Chaim Eskeles, directly related to Viennese Court Jew Issachar Ber Eskeles, whose son, Baron Bernhard, was a leading member of the Asian Brotherhood Secret Society that we are told was set up by the leading Frankist ‘Moses Dobrushka’.

Because the Sabbatean-Frankists made incest and immorality some of their key practices, their offspring were branded as mamzerim, and a psak beit din was handed down forbidding other Jew from intermarrying with them.

At the same time, so many of the leading Frankists ‘went xtian’, following Jacob Frank’s lead.

But as their close family members were still literally our ‘big tzaddikim’ and chief rabbis, that created another need to whitewash the genealogies quite radically.

So then we are left with a circumstance where all our ‘big rabbis’ and all the ‘big bankers’, atheists, Reformers, Frankists and masons are literally exactly the same people.

Especially when some of them ‘made teshuva’ and switched sides again, or had a ‘yeridah’ and switched back into assimilated evil mode.

Crazy at is sounds, this is what happened.

Back to the bankers.

While all this was going on, a family of Frankists with amazing yichus adopted the made-up name of ‘Rothschilds’, and basically became the lightning pole for all accusations against Jewish bankers with masonic / secret society connections.

But when you look at the genealogies, after you’ve been breaking your head on them for five years, you finally start to realise that the real ‘power behind the throne’ is all those people, and families, who got judicially scrubbed out of Jewish history.

And now, our real story can begin.

A couple of weeks ago, I put out a call for help tracking down a book called ‘The Lurie Legacy’, which I believed has a lot of the missing pieces of the real family tree.

We will get to the Lurie family again in another post, BH.

In the meantime, commentator Molly sent me THIS link to the contents page, where it was talking about someone called JOSEPH / JONAS / YONAH LURIE (1780-1855), who was apparently both economic advisor to the Tzar of Russia, AND such a close friend of Napoleon that the latter gave him his richly bejewelled coat.

At this time, Napoleon was meant to have been conquering the Tzar’s Russia and the two countries were fighting a war.

So, if JOSEPH LURIE really was the Tzar’s economic advisor and also a close friend of Napoleon – he was also a traitor.

Joseph Lurie moved to Eretz Yisrael – where else? – and his descendents held massive tracts of land in the Old City of Jerusalem.

And yet…. I never heard of him before.

We will return to Joseph Lurie another time.

What’s important for this post is that I started trying to track down his family members online, including his dad, ‘Jacob Aaron Lurie’ of Mohilev.

And that’s when I suddenly tripped over a family of Jewish Berlin bankers I never heard of before, called the SELIGMANS.

One ELIAS (ELI) LEIMAN SELIGMANN (1710 – 1777) married one VERONICA FROMET LEMLE – and they had a bunch of kids who intermarried with all the leading court Jews, bankers and Frankists all over Europe.

But I’d never heard of them before.

So I had some ‘down time’ after the wedding, so I grabbed a few sheets of paper, and started filling in their family tree.

ELIAS and VERONICA FROMET had six children.

Let’s go through them.

  1. ARON ELIAS SELIGMANN  (1747 – 1824) was a German court Jew and leading banker in Berlin – the home of the so-called ‘haskalah’, where all the Frankist-Reformers controlled most of the Jewish community.

Aron was the main creditor for the Kingdom of Bavaria, that apparently owed him the astronomical amount of ‘110 million’. He changed his name to LEONHARD, got ennobled as BARON LEONHARD VON EICHTAL, then converted to Roman Catholicism in 1819.

He apparently married two sisters, Vogele and Henriette.

And then one of his kids, Rebecca Caroline Charlotte, apparently married her own half-brother, EDUARD SELIGMAN VON WELING….

Ah, the Frankists.

Anyway, another of his kids, BERNHARD ARON dies in Rome, and I’m assuming he also converted before doing that.

Meanwhile, Rebecca Caroline Charlotte (who married her half brother…) apparently also had a different husband called IGNAZ MAYER, whose father was also a court factor in Stuttgart, and whose grandfather was one ELIAS HAYUM BING – secretary to the notorious SUSS OPPENHEIM.

Suss Oppenheim was so notorious, the national socialists even made a propaganda film about him called ‘Jew Suss’.

You can watch that HERE, with English subtitles:

Point is, within five seconds I knew I was already swimming the same murky, genealogical swamp that’s been my lot for the last five years, already.

So then, I went back to check out some of ‘LEONHARD SELIGMANN FREIHERR VON EICHTAL’s’ siblings, and that also proved to be a very rich vein of leading Frankists, too.

For example, his sister KAROLINA JOSEFA (1745 – 1811) married one ADAM ALBERT JOSEF VON HENIKSTEIN, another ennobled banker.

That name was familiar, so I went to check him out.

He’s the brother of ISRAEL HONIG VON HONIGSBURG, court Jew in Brunn, holder of the Imperial Tobacco Monopoly, and if not another alias for ‘Jacob Frank’ himself, then at the very least, the father, brother, uncle or husband of Frank’s ‘cousin’, SCHONDEL DOBRUSKA.

As I’m clicking around, I realised I just hit ‘Frankist-Freemason Royalty’.

And it’s all people I’ve never heard of before, because our Jewish history is stuffed full of made-up names and fake genealogies.

But these people are real people, with real portraits, real titles and real gravestones.

So I decide to do a ‘deep dive’, to see what other interesting things I can turn up, that may have some bearing on the crazy state of affairs in our modern Jewish community.

Another one of (Roman Catholic convert) LEONHARD SELIGMANN VON EICHTAL’s daughters is called RACHEL SOPHIE, and she is married to one LEOPOLD SIMON RITTER VON LAMEL (1790 – 1867).

His mother is BABETTE DUSCHENES – and if that name sounds familiar, it’s because I did a whole big research project on how the frankist DUSCHENES actually funded the ‘Old Yishuv’ in Eretz Yisrael, and had very close links with the Vilna Gaon’s band of Perushim.

More on that another time.

His son LOUIS AARON SELIGMAN (1780-1790) marries one FLEURETTE LEVY who descends from the SEGAL and GANS families I write about so much here.

(Remember, DAVID GANS was an astronomer and the first Jew to have the so-called ‘star of David’ on his tomb…)

I go back to LEONHARD VON EICHTAL’s siblings, and that’s where the story gets even more interesting.

His sister HELENE ELISABETH HEILE ROSE SELIGMANN (1752-1793) marries NAFTALI HERTZ SALOMON OPPENHEIM, from that same, infamous Oppenheim family who has given us so many of our corrupted court Jews and notorious converts to xtianity.

(Oh yes, nearly forgot, and also, apparently, the Manhattan Project, nukes and the hydrogen bomb….)

Woopsy, also forgot that the Oppenheims also gave us the (fake name….) ROTHSCHILDS. It’s a very small world.

If you go HERE, to the expanded family tree for NAFTALI HERTZ SALOMON OPPENHEIM, you will find it literally crawling with Rothschilds, Schnappers, ‘Bauers’, Schwabs (!) – and Freemason-Frankist court Jews of every stripe.

Who all descend from that same ‘Kohen Tzedek’ family I keep mentioning here.

OK, so HELENE ELIZABETH and NAFTALI HERTZ SALOMON have a bunch of kids – at least seven.

One of them is called SALOMON SAMUEL OPPENHEIM JR (1772-1828), and he has a daughter called CHARLOTTE RATISBONNE.

And that’s where the story whooshes off into ‘incredible’ territory.

Because I know that name. It’s on a whole bunch of churches and monasteries, all over the Old City of Jerusalem.

Apparently, that’s because some of the RATISBONNE family of Frankist-Freemason court Jews became leading Jesuits in the 19th century, and then started buying up huge tracts of land in Eretz Yisrael.

And on some of their land, they built Jesuit churches and monasteries.

Meet ALPHONSE RATISBONNE, Charlotte’s brother-in-law.

The following snippet comes from HERE – a catholic blog talking about some notable Jews who converted to xtianity:

In 1842, a 28-year-old French Jew named Alphonse Ratisbonne was visiting Rome. He was the youngest son of an important banking family in Strasbourg, a close relation of the Rothschilds.

As often happens with European Jews, a family takes the name of a city. The French Ratisbonne comes from Ratisbona, the Latin name for Regensburg, a famous German city near Munich.

Alphonse was a Jew by race and religion, virulently anti-Catholic, and libertine in his customs.

Long story short, he decides to convert and become a Catholic. The piece ends like this:

His conversion had enormous repercussions over all Christendom. The entire Catholic world became aware of it and was impressed by it. Afterward, Ratisbonne became a Jesuit priest.

Ten years later, he and his brother Theodore, who also had converted from Judaism, founded a religious congregation – the Congregation of Sion – turned to the conversion of the Jews

Suddenly, I have the feeling I may have just tripped over more of the original z-ists….

When I start looking for more info on that ‘Congregation’ devoted to converting Jews, I get to a page on the WayBack Machine, HERE.

This is more of what I learn:

In 1850 he engaged in mission work among convicts in Brest.

Two years later, with authorization of the Jesuit Superior General, Jan Philipp Roothaan, and the blessing of Pope Pius IX  he left the Society of Jesus to join his brother Théodore and the ‘Pères de Sion’ in Paris.

In 1855, he moved to Palestine where he spent the rest of his life.

In 1858, he established the Convent of Ecce Homo in the Old City of Jerusalem for the Sisters of Sion.

In 1860, he built the Convent of St. John on a hilltop in Ein Karem, then a village on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

In 1874, he founded the Ratisbonne Monastery, now a Salesian study center in Jerusalem’s Rehavia neighborhood.

Marie-Alphonse Ratisbonne died in Ein Karem on May 6, 1884 and is buried in the cemetery of that convent.

Ah, all that ‘Church-owned land’ in Rehavia and Jerusalem….

Probably owned by the Ratisbonne family of Jesuits, while their Frankist family members who stayed within the Jewish fold, the fake-name Rothschild (Oppenheimers) bought up the rest of the country….

Charlotte OPPENHEIM married a brother of these two Jesuit Jews called Adolphe, who was a banker in Strasbourg.

But the point is, the Freemason-Frankist network had very tight links to:

  • Finance / banking
  • Royalty
  • Secret Societies
  • Xtianity – especially activity missionising the Jews.
  • Eretz Yisrael

We’ll stop there for now.

But let’s just say, the missionary problem we’ve been having in Eretz Yisrael is by no means something new.

It’s looking more and more like the Freemason-Frankists envisaged ‘the State’ as the perfect tool to get Jews here, violently break them away from their Torah traditions, and then leave them easy pickings for missionaries and other satanically-inspired belief systems.

And that’s still happening today.

PS: Dan Brown made the Priory de Sion famous in his blockbuster book the Da Vinci Code, that basically served as great PR for the demonic masons.

If you have time and inclination, take a closer look at just what the ‘Priory de Sion’ really is.

And how it may intersect with all the stuff we are learning here, about satanic masons running the world from behind the scenes, and their connections to the Rome-created hybrid ‘religion’ called xtianity.

Here’s a few screenshots of the now defunct Notre Dame de Sion website, telling us what the Jewish Jesuit Ratisbonnes were trying to do here in the Holy Land:

It seems, the ‘State’ was owned by formerly Jewish xtian Frankists right from the start, with deep ties to satanic secret societies and xtian institutions.

That starts to explain a lot, doesn’t it?

I’ve been thinking a lot about how ‘the evils’ turn us all against each other.

In our puppet-controlled world, they make all these machloket, all these ridiculous arguments between us, about details that are actually totally pointless, but become the whole ikker.

I lost a few good friends over the whole Covid psyop, because they insisted I should have three shots just to come to the wedding of their daughter – someone I knew for the last 18 years.

I didn’t get them. Obviously.

And I haven’t spoken to that friend of mine now for three years.

Sometimes, I also fall into the trap of arguing about stuff and with people who are ultimately just inconsequential ‘fluff’.

It’s one of the pitfalls of blogging.

And while I try to avoid it, occasionally the baiting I consistently get from my own pet psychos here in the comments section gets to me, and I bite back.

But the point is, there are very important things going on here, and they need to be discussed as calmly and as unemotionally as possible, to get to the truth of what is really going on.

I know that there are many sincere people out there all trying to get to the truth, in their own ways, and I respect them a lot, even if I sometimes totally disagree with their conclusions.

Ultimately, we all have our own bad middot to deal with, our own ‘hot buttons’, and especially at the moment, it’s just so darned easy to explode at other people, because we’re actually all just feeling so frustrated and upset about the ongoing situation here in Israel, and in the world.

Bottom line:

Anyone in a position of power or real influence over the last 150 years (at least….) was probably put there by ‘the evils’.

And especially in our Jewish community.

That is the main place we need to start trying to figure out, which ‘agent provacateurs’ and ‘false leaders’ with hidden agendas were put in place, or maintained in place, to subvert the Jewish community from within.

That this is actually what has been going on for at least a good couple of centuries (at least…) shouldn’t really be a ‘newsflash’ to any of us, should it?

For years, we’ve been reading about ‘erev rav’, and how at the end of days they push themselves into all the real leadership positions, to the great detriment of the sincere Jews fooled into following after them.

But the controversial part of this is that it’s always been so much easier to point the finger at the other guys, the other bits of the Jewish community….

Our bit is always fine. Our bit is always totally ‘uncontaminated’.

But that’s just not true.

Before I got to Shuvu Banim, I went through a whole bunch of other Breslov communities and institutions.

There are issues all over.

And there were also massive issues within Shuvu Banim, too, until around a decade ago when the Rav went into exile, and then went to prison twice, and since then, nearly all the high-level fakers and yucky people disappeared.

That was one very good thing that came of the whole birur process that occurred at Shuvu Banim, because narcissist fakers, psychos and pedos really don’t like outsiders assuming right from the beginning they are up to no good.

Or being attached to such a poor, down-trodden and insulted community.

Evil flourishes the most in those places were people keep making excuses for it, and covering it up all the time.

And with all the non-stop persecution and scrutiny and insults, Shuvu is now a million miles away from being that.

Rabbenu made it clear when he came back from Eretz Yisrael, that he was bringing his followers the ‘present’ of machloket.

For years, I couldn’t understand why that was a ‘present.’

Now, I’m starting to develop more appreciation for the true wisdom of Rabbenu.

Point is, if you want to tell me any community is only good, or only bad – that’s just not how it is.

And even very good and holy communities like Shuvu have had massive issues with psychos in the past, and it’s only the ongoing bizayon and persecution that has really shaken so many of those elements out of the picture.

But psychos are in leadership positions all over the Jewish world still, including in the ‘frum’ world, including in the ‘dati leumi’ world, including in the ‘hilltop youth world’ – it’s those erev rav psychos we all learned about from the Zohar and the Vilna Gaon.

And the only way we can really ‘clean them out’ is by cleaning their horrible traits and bad middot out of ourselves.

So, that’s basically what our job at this very difficult time boils down to.

Working on ourselves, doing hitbodedut for an hour a day so we can have clarity and not ‘get confused’, and constantly challenging our own assumptions and being willing to sacrifice our own ‘holy cows’.

BH, there are so many good Jews all over the place.

The Jewish soul is such a wonderful, powerful force for good.

That’s why ‘the evils’ have been working so hard to keep setting up more false ideologies and fake or misguided people to ‘lead us’ away from authentic Torah, and the real Tzaddikim.

We get through this next stage only with a lot of hitbodedut, a lot of humility, and a lot of working on our own bad middot, instead of just pointing the finger at everyone else.

But in the meantime, we have to keep doing the birur, and keep trying to check who is real, and who isn’t, and what ideas are genuinely helpful, and what ideas are really not.

It’s a painful process.

It’s not easy to have our most cherished ideas and ‘heros’ constantly probed and challenged.

But just like I’ve had that process ongoing for a decade now with the Rav, and before that, for another decade with Rabbenu and Breslov – so each person has to also go through this birur with their own ‘heros’, their own rabbis, and their own beliefs and ideas.

There is nothing to fear from this, if a person is really interested in the truth, and really interested in working on themselves and their own bad middot, and really interested in coming closer to Hashem, and developing some genuine humility.

Although for sure, the process is often very painful and upsetting.

So, first, I’m sorry if this process of trying to get to the truth is pressing your buttons.

But second, we’re all wrong about something, at least some of the time.

That’s the whole point here, to take some time every day to figure out what was I wrong about today? What did I react to in a ‘wrong’ way? What did I say or do that was ‘wrong’ – i.e. not in alignment with what God really wants from me?

May Hashem help us all to figure it out.

And to break out of the paradigm we are currently trapped in, that sets us at each other’s throats over details and ‘fluff’ and ‘politics’ and fake leaders that don’t really matter.

Bottom line: God wants our sincere teshuva.

And our prayers.

And some humility, that we don’t know everything, and we aren’t always ‘right’.

God, please help me to give You what you want!

PS: More and more info is coming out that some of the soldiers being killed in Gaza are being killed by IDF drones.

Take a look at THIS, on the ynet site (Hebrew).

The drones have been responsible for a huge amount of death and destruction in this war, but hardly anyone is talking about them.

And a lot of the drones in Gaza are not being operated by the IDF, but by the US and UK.

Just something to keep an eye on….especially connected with more reports of our soldiers dying due to ‘friendly fire’.

Amazingly, this was the next part of the Rav’s shiur, given on Rosh Chodesh Kislev (Nov 13th, 2023).

The first part of the shiur was talking about transferring 1.5 billion to Hamas, and Hamas firing on the patients in the hospitals, and then blaming it on the IDF, if they try to take down Al Shifaa hospital.

You can read that HERE.

That shiur then continues like this:

So, this is what the Rambam says.

Now, we are reading verse 13 in Halacha 16, this is in the halachot of gerushin (divorces).

Verse 13, and also verse 2[1], it’s brought down twice [in the halachot of gerushin]. And also, in [the Rambam explaining the halachot pertaining to] arachin[2] (assets / property), and also in rotzeach[3] (murder).

Let’s now read the halachot of rotzeach (murder).

If a person murders [someone else], he doesn’t need to go to an ir miklat (city of refuge).

If he killed someone else be shogeg (by mistake)…

[But] if he murdered someone be mazid (i.e. With the deliberate intent to kill them), so there also needs to be witnesses and warning – but it doesn’t happen like this.

If you tell him [i.e. The would-be murderer] don’t fire on ploni! Don’t kill him! – so already, he won’t do it.

People do it when no-one is watching. He can’t do it when people are watching.

Tell him don’t do that transgression! – so he already won’t do that transgression.

So here, in verse 2, the Rambam brings that a person can write a get (Jewish bill of divorce) after they slaughter him.

So what, if they slaughter him? Nothing will happen, nothing.

Don’t get confused. Be ‘Breslov’ and then you’ll have yishuv ha’daat (settled, clear thinking).

The Rebbe says[4] my people are going to have yishuv ha’daat (calm, settled minds).

Everyone will be running around and confused, what are we meant to do, Moshiach is coming! What, are we meant to bring him some flowers? Or to bring him some chocolates? What are we meant to bring him? A BBQ’d chicken? Or maybe we should bring him an ice lolly?

Each person will search for what to bring Moshiach, some present.

But my people will have yishuv ha’daat, they won’t become confused.

Because whoever does an hour a day of hitbodedut, he won’t become confused by everyone else.

The same thing [here, returning to the discussion of the person who has been seriously injured].

You recieved some blows, they cut two simanim (lit: indications – but see footnote)[5], they cut all your head off – so what is going to happen? Nothing is going to happen.

‘Gossess[6] refers to when slowly, slowly, a person’s brain starts to decay.

A person 90 years old, he is already in danger that his brain will start to decay. Up until 90 years old, the brain can still function, people get to 100 years old.

Now, R’ Baruch Mordechai reached 100.

Rav Shteinman got to 102. Rav Shach reached 106. If they actually knew when he was born. Because there was no birthdate. Once upon a time, they didn’t used to register the date of birth.

Then, there was a world war.

So, if he was 106 years old, Rav Shach, so now, a women wanted to come and marry him, at the age of 106 years old, in order that she would be called ‘the wife of Rav Shach’.

There would be stipends, she’d be shown honor, so then she could give drashot (Torah classes).

So, she was 40 years old, and she wanted to marry Rav Shach.

So, for as long as he was still alive, she could still marry him, even at the age of 106.

[The same idea applies here.]

Even if a person receives many murderous blows, and he can’t continue to live, but he lives for another five minutes [halachically, he can still perform kiddushin and gerushin].

[4] Sichot HaRan, 228::

I heard in [Rebbe Nachman’s] name: “Of course there are kosher people to be found, even if they don’t have hitbodedut. But I call them ‘pleetim’ (unfortunates) – petrified and confused.

And suddenly, when Moshiach comes and calls them, they will be all mixed-up and confused.

But we [i.e. Those who follow Rebbe Nachman’s advice to do hitbodedut for an hour every day] will be compared to people [who wake up] after they slept, when their minds are properly relaxed and settled.

This is how our da’at (minds / spiritual awareness) will be, relaxed and settled, without any panic and confusion.

[5] This is part of a wider discussion the Rav has been having over the last few weeks, where ‘simanim’ are taken to refer to crucial parts of the body.

[6] An halachic description of a person’s physical state shortly before they expire.

If some of this sounds a little strange, remember it’s the rabbinic decisions down here that actually govern ‘reality’.

Years ago, I remember some rabbi (it was actually Akiva Tatz….) giving a shiur about a whole rabbinic decision about someone who was lost overboard during a ship’s voyage.

The ‘prevailing wisdom’ was that this person couldn’t have survived the circumstances.

But one tanna argued that it was possible that a person could be lost overboard in those circumstances, and still be alive.

Once his decision was accepted by the others – this is what made the reality, down here.

And created the ‘space’ to actually save that shipwrecked person’s life.

Yeah, I know, totally not ‘rational and logical’.

Welcome to authentic Judaism.

The last two days, I’ve been pretty down.

It’s probably a whole bunch of things together, including trying to keep everything going and ‘upbeat’ so the wedding could get done, and not totally falling apart that first month after Simchat Torah.

But the ‘last straw’ seems to have been that terror attack that happened in Jerusalem on Thursday morning.

I was shaken to my core by what happened when ‘one of our soldiers’ killed Yuval Castelman, a Jew from Mevasseret Zion, who got shot dead after ‘neutralising’ one of the Palestinian terrorists at the bus stop in Jerusalem on Thursday.

I am not going to go into all the details.

The Daniel Amram Telegram channel has a lot of information about it, and also did a Youtube interview pulling together the known information (and videos of what happened) HERE.

The point is, Yuval Castelman was shot dead, when one of the soldiers mistook him for a terrorist.

‘Friendly fire’.

I have to say, this whole episode broke my heart.

And it showed me that all those people shouting that ‘more guns’ and ‘more violence’ is the answer…

They have been misleading us for years and years and years.

It’s all warped so-called ‘Torah’, teaching pure Jews that hatred and guns and violence is ‘the only answer’ to what is going on here.

And where’s God in this picture?

It’s the ‘power and koach of my own hand’.

And nothing else.

If we want this horrible situation to end, we have to finally understand that all the people – all the ‘Kahanists’, and others infected by Meir Kahane’s horrible, destructive, and hate-filled ‘push’ to get ‘every Jew with a 22’ – they have been misleading us for years, about what the real solution to our problems are.

‘Guns’ without real teshuva is only going to turn Israel into even more of the Wild West, where people feel totally justified in shooting others down.

I understand that situation here is very complicated.

I live here, after all.

My kids use that trempiada sometimes – like half of Jerusalem.

I live right next to a whole bunch of Palestinians here, and I spent a whole month saying tehillim every single day to try and ‘mitigate’ any urge they might have to walk up the road and start another pogrom, God forbid.

I am not a ‘bleeding heart leftie’.

At all.

What I am, is a person who has been arguing against the poisonous ideas of Meir Kahane (and his successors) with my children for a few years, already.

It’s breaking my heart, to see Jews with payot talking so calmly about gunning people down on the street.

If someone is coming to kill us – we have to rise up and kill them first, of course we have to!

But we still have to do that with such sadness, that the  job of destroying a human life has fallen to us.

It’s  not a video game.

It’s not a joke.

What happened in Jerusalem on Thursday – is the soldier who mistakenly shot Yuval Castelman still a ‘hero’?

When someone is down on the floor, and poses no further danger, is it a ‘mitzvah’ to carry on shooting that person, even if they are a terrorist?

(I don’t know the answers to these questions, BTW. It’s something only our biggest poskim, our biggest rabbis with real ruach hakodesh and a strong connection to Hashem could actually know how to answer.)

All I can tell you, is that we CANNOT rely on just guns and more violence to ‘solve this problem’.

God is showing us that more and more clearly with each day that passes.

Only real, sincere teshuva is going to get us out of the mess.

Only listening to our real Tzaddikim is going to get us out of this mess.

And until enough people get that message…. the Jewish death toll continues to rise with more precious souls killed every single day.

May Hashem avenge their blood.

And also, open enough people’s eyes to what is really going on here.

Yaakov’s main weapon has to be prayer and teshuva, not guns.

And it’s only the people who are really working to turn us all into the evil, murderous, God-less ‘Esav’ who disagree with that statement.

I know these topics are very fraught, and very emotional.

Pondering some more on it, the point I really want to make is that none of us should be blase about taking another human being’s life – not even if that person is the most despicable terrorist in the world.

Every single person is still made in the ‘image of God’, and when we adopt a ‘black and white’ approach to this, glorifying killing as though it’s nothing, just a matter of chalking up another ‘x’ on the M-16 – we are falling into the God-less attitude that ‘Esav’ has to other human beings.

This is a very narrow bridge to cross.

But God Himself grieved when the evil Egyptians were totally annihilated at the Red Sea.

And our job as Jews is to emulate God in this lowly world as much as possible – and not to glorify Rambo.

One of the commentators put up something on the last post that R Kessin has apparently identified a category of human that is ‘sub human’.

This type of language makes my skin crawl, to be honest.

Everyone is still a human being, although clearly, not everyone acts like a human being.

Rebbe Nachman explains in Likutey Moharan (can anyone help me with the specific reference?) that when people lack da’at, i.e. they don’t have God in their lives and God isn’t part of their picture – they are like an animal on two legs.

But actually worse than an animal, in many ways.

This applies across the board to all ‘God-less’ people, regardless of their nationality or religion.

A few days’ ago, I lit a 7 day memorial candle, for Yuval Castelman.

I put it next to the yahrtzeit candle we have all the time for Rebbe Nachman.

May Yuval’s death not be in vain.

And may the light and the wisdom and the real Torah of our true Tzaddikim reach every single one of us.

This one is a little more recent  – from last Saturday night.

Shiur given at Seudat Shlishit, Shabbat Vayetza, 12th Kislev 5784, (Nov 25th, 2023)

…The force of the imagination that deceives a person is called ‘Lavan Ha Arami’ (Laban the Aramean).

There is something that is called ‘Lavan Ha Arami’, that decieves a person, it cheats a person.

And it tells him that a sin is really a mitzvah, because it simulates [fakery] and deceives a person so very much – it just deceives a person all day long, into making all sorts of mistakes.

With all sorts of lies – he’s the biggest liar in the world. He’s a total liar. He was the greatest liar.

To the point that the lie is obvious. By them, the lie is more obvious than the truth.

All day long, they lie to themselves…. So the lie is ‘clear’ to them, as though there is absolutely no doubt about it. The lie is ‘the truth’ for them.

By the evildoers, the ‘lie’ is ‘the truth’.

[On Simchat Torah, October 7, 2023) It was forbidden to fire on the terrorists.

The BAGATZ (Israeli Supreme Court) put out a law that it’s forbidden to fire on terrorists.

They said: people are crossing over the fence!

They said back: No, they are just coming to walk around. They are just having a vacation now…

It was Shabbat, on Shabbat people like to go on trips…

They said: You aren’t understanding, they are just coming to look around.

But they’d already breached the fence.

They said: If you say another word, we are going to take you to court.

This is what they said, if you say another word….

But who said that they are just coming to look around?! Can I shoot them?!

Chas v’shalom! These are ‘innocent’ people! ‘Tzaddikim!’ They are just coming to visit.

This is what they said to the tatzpatnim (army observers on the Gaza border), the soldiers who were on the border, and who said: People are crossing over the fence!

So they said, So what, if they are crossing over the fence?! What? It’s forbidden to go for a day out on Shabbat?!

In Shuvu Banim, it’s forbidden to go for days out. But they aren’t Shuvu Banim, they want to walk around for a bit, so what’s the problem? So, they are coming to visit, what’s the big deal?

They told them: It’s forbidden for you to shoot.

They asked the commanders.

They told them: It’s forbidden for you to shoot…..

So now, we are talking about how the the lie is so very clear to them, that they say it’s forbidden to shoot at the terrorists.

Only if they are armed. Only if they are shooting at you.

There are something like a hundred conditions attached to shooting a terrorist. Only if he puts his gun mamash up next to your heart, because if he doesn’t put it by your heart, the bullet could go to the side.

And if that happens, ‘what’s the big deal?’ – this didn’t injure the heart. If he didn’t injure your heart, ‘he didn’t do anything’. They’ll take the bullet out, and that’s it. What’s the worst that can happen?

Only if he comes from the other side….

So, there are many conditions, and you need to abide by all the conditions – these are the laws of the BAGATZ.

The ‘laws’ of the BAGATZ.

So, Rav Natan says that the more ‘secular’ a person is, the more his intelligence is ‘backwards’.

He inverts the lie to become the truth, and he thinks that he has ‘values’.

[The secular people think that] We have ‘values’. We aren’t like the religious. The religious say ‘if someone comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first’.

But by them, it’s the opposite: If someone comes to kill you – so let him kill you.

Only if he kills you first, can you kill him back.

By them, there is no ‘rise up and kill him first’.

This is the ‘intelligence’ of the chilonim – it’s all opposite and backwards.

So now, Rav Natan explains that Lavan Ha’Arami he exchanged the lie for the truth, and this is the aspect of loven d’klipah (the klipah of whitewashing?). All the chilonim, this is loven d’klipah.

The whole disaster [on Simchat Torah] was totally unnecessary.

[The number of those murdered] has got to 1,500, including 200 terrorists. This is not….

In the whole War of Independence 1,700 people died.

Afterwards, during all the wars of attrition we already got to 22,000 killed, since the founding of the State.

But in the War of Independence itself, not more than 1,500, but here – in just one hour, 1,500 disappeared.

All of this is because of the ‘backwards’ intellect. Because their thinking is all the opposite of the opposite of the opposite of the opposite. The lie has been transformed into ‘the truth’.

Yet they claim that they are the ‘enlightened’ ones.

They said to them: What do you want, you are doing the demonstrations, but you lost.

You lost in the elections. What, the majority here are religious, most people here are traditional.

Even the chilonim want a religious government.

They replied: No, you are the ‘dark ones’! You hate Arabs, and this shows that you are the ‘dark ones’! You are cave-dwellers. In the caves, they taught you to hate Arabs.

And we are the ‘enlightened’ ones. We are the ‘learned’ ones. We finished university. There, they taught us [to love Arabs]. All the professors are Arabs.

There, they beat up students who are Jewish – and that’s how it is the whole world over.

Because in university, they teach people to hate Jews and to love Arabs. And this is called ‘having values’.

That they are ‘educated’, that they are ‘enlightened’…..

[skipping some]

Lavan ‘whitewashed’ everything.

Lavan took the lie, and called it ‘having values’, being ‘enlightened’. Loving Arabs means you are an ‘enlightened’ person. And whoever hates Arabs, this is a person of ‘darkness’.

Even if they…. But this doesn’t make any difference. They are ‘people of darkness’, primitive people. Today, it’s already the modern world, the ‘new world’, where we hug the Arabs.

We love the Arabs.

[In the Kibbutzim in the Gaza envelope] They prepared balloons.

They prepared balloons [to release into Gaza, that had written on them] ‘we are your brothers’.

On Shabbat Simchat Torah, they prepared balloons in the all kibbutzim, to fly over the fence, over the border.

They said: It is impossible to ever break through this fence. Never.

‘Never’ – it turned out that within a minute they broke through it, within a second, a thousandth of a second, they broke through the fence.

The brought a few few bulldozers and busted it open. And they also brought a few drones that blew up the cameras.

So, a person ‘whitewashes’ the lies.

The work of the person is to ‘whitewash’ the lie, this is his job. To ‘whiten’ the lie, to make it seem that it is totally clear and ‘white’, to make it seem that this is how it is.

Even now, [after October 7th], they asked them: Nu, what do you say about the Arabs now?

They said: If there would be ‘peace’, this wouldn’t have happened.

We are in favor of ‘peace’. We want ‘peace’. If we were living in ‘peace’ with them, this wouldn’t have happened. All of this is because of the religious! Because of the right-wingers, who hate the Arabs.

Why should a person hate such ‘sweet’ people?! Such ‘cute’ people?! We say that they are the cutest people in the world.

Now, I heard someone on Friday morning, they asked her: What’s your viewpoint now?

[She said] What do you think, that I changed my viewpoint?! Dafka, dafka now, I am saying ‘if they had made peace with the Arabs, with the Hamas – the sweetest people in the world – and given them a few kisses, then everything would have been OK.

Now, it’s been proven that I was right! Now, everyone can see that I was right!

Ad kan.

There’s a few more interesting bits to translate from that same shiur, including some remarks about Argentina’s new leader-elect, that many of the Spanish speaking ‘awake’ people are fingering as a total psycho.

BH, I’ll get to translating that soon.

In the meantime, the more of the Rav you read, the more your brain starts to work in a totally different way, and the more you start to deduce what’s really going on.

On that note, please go and read OIAG 3, if you didn’t already.

And if you did read it already, go back and re-read it – there are some truly amazing examples of ruach hakodesh in it, describing what happened on October 7th in a few different ways, and where you can clearly see what the Rav was actually referring to, when he was repeatedly talking abou the ‘shoah’ that was going to happen.

Ashrenu, that we have a real Tzaddik like this in our lowly generation.

Shavua Tov!

Over Shabbat, I managed to catch up on a few of the Rav’s shiurim from the last couple of weeks.

I will just carry on translating the bits that took my eye, and you take from it whatever you take from it.

There’s lots and lots of hints…. as usual.

Excerpt of a shiur given Tuesday night, Kislev 1, 5784, (November 13, 2023) to the Shuvu Banim Kollel

Now, there was someone from Zaka in the South – he’s responsible for all of Zaka.

He said: We couldn’t drive anywhere, everyone was dead.

300 they killed within the [Nova] party, within two minutes – an M16.

[M16s], every second this is 30 bullets – every second! So five seconds is 300 people, 5-10 seconds, this is 300 people.

Within ten seconds, within a minute, they destroyed 1,000 people there.

Everyone ran away, so they killed them on the roads. All the roads were full of terorrists.

There were 10,000 terrorists.

They say two thousand, three – what are you talking about, two thousand?!

Everywhere, all the kibbutzim, were full of terrorists. Terrorists were everywhere.

Now, there was the rakaz (defense organiser, community leader) of Be’eri.

He said I was left with one pistol with 15 bullets. They took the guns away from everyone.

In case they would fire on some ‘innocent’ Arab, some ‘sweet’ Arab, who would suddenly pass by the gate there, without paying attention.

So, they took all the guns away from the [kibbutz] guards.

They came, they killed the guards – they didn’t have any guns. Ten terrorists came and killed the guard, and then entered into the kibbutz.

The guards were left without weapons.

So, they ran to the armoury – there is an armoury, it’s a room with all the guns that belong to the kibbutz.

There are 300 people, 300 guns in the armoury – the armoury was empty.

They passed everything to Hamas, to the army, to Gaza.

The first priority is to give weapons to Gaza,,,,

They just gave Gaza one and a half billion. Now, Bibi passed them one and a half billion. A billion and a half he gave them with his own hands.

Everything that there was with Qatar, this was a lie. This was [just] to pass a billion and a half to Gaza.

They built there a million tunnels, 10,000 tunnels. Every house there has a tunnel.

Now, on Friday night, they went to open a tunnel.

Everyone got blown up.

They tunnel was booby-trapped. Five people were killed in one shot.

Yesterday, someone from the Electricity Company by the name Yaakov (Shalom Aboudi) from Tiberius was killed. Everyone knew him.

Twenty one injured, five killed, every day.

There is no end to this. They are saying that maybe this is going to take a year, because it’s impossible to get close to the hospital (Al Shifaa).

Underneath the hospital, there are all the bunkers of the commanders, of all of Hamas. They are not letting the sick people to be evacuated. They want to evacuate them, but they aren’t letting them – the Hamas.

They are saying that if you evacuate them, we are going to fire on the patients.

Hamas will fire on them, and then say that we fired on them.

This shiur is from two weeks ago – but it’s still happening today, when the ceasefire is over and rockets are being fired at Israel and ‘the war’ has apparently started again.
