A new yishuv in Gush Etzion

In the middle of all the madness, there is still so much good news to celebrate.

Last month, 12 brave young families accompanied 12 caravans to a patch of barren ground at the Northern tip of Gush Etzion, close to Jerusalem and Har Gilo.

Long story short, they decided to move there to stop the never-ending encroachment and illegal building occurring all over the so called West Bank, by the local Arab population. At least, in that small corner of Eretz Yisrael.

I know some of the people who moved there personally, and this is what they just sent me:

A month ago, we established our home in the new settlement of Bar Kokhba (Halutz) in Gush Etzion, driven by our belief in strengthening and developing new Jewish communities in the Land of Israel.

If we hadn’t made the decision to be amongst the first families to come and live here, then the chances are high that this area could shortly have become another part of Eretz Yisrael that would be ‘off limits’ to Jews.

Our new community is in its early stages, with just 12 families, but while it’s small, Bar Kokhba is playing a hugely important role in helping to keep wider Jerusalem safer, and encircled with more Jewish communities.

It continues:

It’s been a big adjustment to leave everything to live in a caravan with just eleven other families, and we need your help and support to get more of the necessary essential infrastructure in place.

Your help– will let us pay for a security patrol, and get the community properly connected to the water and electricity grid. We also need roads and other very basic infrastructure. This will enable us to grow, thrive, and live securely in this region.

All of this costs a lot of money, so we are asking you to join with us, to help us to make this happen.
Your support is a crucial step in the process of building this new Jewish community on the outskirts of Jerusalem and is tax-deductible.
For donations and more details please go to this link – and please pass this on, to anyone else who may be moved to help us: https://pe4ch.com/ref/pRbQL53a1che?lang=en
With love and immense gratitude.

I actually went up to visit this new community last week, it’s a beautiful place, and the young families there are displaying tremendous mesirut nefesh.

I think one of the families has five young kids, or something like that, and there is zero infrastructure on the site at the moment, except 12 caravans and the one dirt road that got bulldozed flat for the caravans to sit on.

This is a tax deductible cause, for people who care about those details, and you can read details of exactly how and where the money will be spent on that link above, which I’ll copy here, too:

They are trying to raise 1.2 million shekels, including being able to pay for a security patrol, and also, to build a shul / community hall.

If someone has a big donation they want to make, they told me they are happy to name the shul after a generous benefactor.

So, there are still some very good things happening here in Eretz Yisrael.

And if you want to help make this new yishuv a reality, here’s your chance.

May we just hear more good news!
